Posts: 136 | wtf why is alexander on the cover...the only reason they were in the SB was cause the got out of the HARD AFC WEST....and got into an easy division in the NFC....they had a cake schedule....I think Joey Porter, or Polamulu or Ben should be on the cover....Seattle's SB run was bogus....and well this year they have another easy schedule...Seattle is not that good put them back in the West and they will lose...Proof my Raiders will beat them this year... |

And why didn't he deserve the cover??? He only broke the single season TD record... I guess to some people that doesn't mean much though. Also, look at the past Madden covers: 2001-Eddie George--I'm pretty sure the Titans lost that super bowl, by a yard and a half; 2002--Daunte Culpepper???--when were the Vikings even in a Super Bowl latley??; 2003-Marshal Faulk--Uhh, yep, Rams 17, Patriots 20; 2004-- Vick??? Michael Vick?? Yea, lets forget about the Buccs 48-21 blowout of "your team" the Raiders in super bowl 37!! The least they could have done would have been to put the whole team on the cover; 2005--Ray Lewis--Yay, finally. His team won the Super Bowl...4 years earlier!!; 2006-- Mcnabb? Wheres Brady, Branch, Law, Dillon, Vinitary, Bruschi, Harrison, or McGinest???
My point is, know what you are talking about...first of all. Don't argue a major point if you can't back it up. Second... Everyone wants to see a "Break Through" performer on a cover of a major item. Not nessessarily a Championship winner all the time. They get enough recognition throughout the rest of the year.
And third, lets just look through the 2005 season.
Shaun= 370 rush attempts...Parker+ Bettis+ Stayley = 403 attempts!!
Shaun= 1880 yards... Parker + Bettis+ Stayley= 1718 yards!!
Shaun= 5.1 Average YPC... Parker = 4.7, Bettis = 3.3 and Stayley = 3.9
Shaun= 27 Rushing Touchdowns...
ENTIRE STEELERS OFFENSE RUSHING TOUCHDOWNS ON THE YEAR = 21!!!!!!!!
When comparing these two... You tell Shaun Alexander he doesn't deserve the cover of Madden 2007!!
P.S. Personally I really don't like him, or the Seahawks. I really like Hines Ward, and would have loved to see him on the cover. But you can't argue with stats.
Check the stats on each teams homepage!!
I'll debate football anytime. Love of the game!!! |

Posts: 136 | Alright sir, i am going to do this professional, you made good points about his stats in comparsion to the steelers rushing, but they have other offensive weapons (i.e Ward, Ben, Randle El and their TE). The Seahawks have no other offensive weapons, their QB had a good year..so what. And dont get me wrong i am not on the Steelers bandwagon but Alexander is no "Break Through" preformer he has been on the seen for six years , tearing it up most of them. He had a great year in a soft division they next best team in the division was the rams 6-10 thats not even close to the playoff race or even .500 for that matter. Your team shined cause well that had an open road to the super bowl...they have one good offensive player and utilized him throughout the year to run over weak defenses. My team wasnt anywhere near greatness but come on you put the Seahawks back in the AFC West and they are DONE...they will get eaten alive just like they used to. Shaun ALexander is blown up way too much...just look at the division i think they played four playoff teams on their schedule come on man wake up...
And you do make good points about the Super Bowl Chokers but if you want a break through player Steve Smith maybe? Just an option. Face the facts not the stats your team didnt deserve to be their they got a golden ticket from their schedule.
And please dont get me started on the Patriots i think this forum doesnt like expletives.....so dont get me started there....basically they won because Tom Brady was sucking off the Commisioner who pays Refs. And the Buc I will give it that they had a great team, and a great coach....but oh lets remember his roots Oakland....i wish he was still there....
In Summary:
Shaun Alexander is blown up
They won cause they were in a weak divison
Shaun Alexander is not a break through preformer
Brady was taking it from the Commisioner
and Gruden is missed in Oakland
nice debating with you...bring the facts not the stats...and i am welcome to continue this debate...

Posts: 961 | gottchya man. I really don't like the Seahawks at all. I just had to defend Alexander this year because i think he deserved it. And the Madden cover is usually based on one player, not one team. So it really doesn't matter about their schedual. It fell how it fell. I mean you want to talk about easy schedual, look at the Colts. Manning tore it up last season, for the same reason you claim the Seahawks made it to the Super Bowl... Very easy schedual. Why isn't he on the cover?? I mean he broke a much harder record...Marino's 48 Passing TD season (One i was very pissed about, since Marino is my favorite athlete of all time.) I can't find another link, and they took the table off of NFL.com, but this past 2005 season, the Colts were at the bottom of the chart with a SofS (Strength of Schedual) rating of like .389. The next team was at like .411. That table is created each year, by a bunch of top annalist.
Anyway man... Looks like i got a football debate buddy.
Later. |

Posts: 961 | Die hard Miami all the way... Dude ironically enough, I finally made it to my first real NFL game this last season................. Miami at Oakland. Great game. I was way up in the top section, in a Jason Taylor jersey, decked out in Miami gear. I probably should have been shot, stabbed, rapped and left for dead in an ally somewhere, but i made it out alive. I knew the fans were ruthless going there, but i said, i am a DIE HARD Miami fan. Everytime, the Fins did something good, i stood up and cheered and yelled as loud as i could. There were VERY VERY few of us Dolphins fans up there, very very far and few in between. But i had fun, it was great... and i made it out alive. All my friends were like, "Dude, your F**king crazy!!" |

I'd have to agree. The Seahawks had a good year, and Alexander is definitely a great player. Seattle made a great move by locking him up and not letting him go like the Colts did with Edge. Of course the Colts have more offensive firepower than most of the countries in the Middle East!
