HALO 3 Launch Date

Fox And Universal have come to terms with Microsoft, finalizing the Halo movie contract and agreeing on a Summer 2007 release. It was also noted that MS is planning to launch Halo 3 at the same time as the movie to “optimize marketing potential”. Could this be true? Has Microsoft abandoned its original plan to coincide the game’s launch with that of the PS3? What do you think?

I hope they don't really. I want to play Halo 3 as soon as I can because of the way Halo 2 ended. I can understand how it would help sales, but maybe they could release something else Halo-related on that date.

Hasn't the PS3 been delayed to 2007 aswell? If so and it's not a rumor, Halo 3 is still on track; truthfully I never saw it releasing in 2006 so I'm not surprised. Plus I got some great games to accompany me while I wait for 2007.

A comment on the movie part, if it's not in CGI it will be terrible.

Atleast if its released in 2007 it will not be rushed at all. I'd prefer to wait for a while longer and get the ultimate halo game.

Also if this is true that means Bungie probably isn't lying about their "new project". I wonder wtf it is then?

I have a feeling it'll be some sort of third-person action game, but I want it to be another FPS to be honest.

Chances are it will do. I think that was the point of Halo 2's ending anyway, so 3 can start where 2 left off.

Gamestop has it's pre release date of halo 3 as of 6/1/06. I am sure it will change but thats the prelimnary release date.

If they wait for the film's release, it will do. Personally I think it wil come out next year, probably October/November. Leaving it to 2007 is just being a slacker.

If they are going to release it in 2007 I hope they use the extra time to perfect the game. I would rather get a better game later then a crappy game sooner.

I hope they aren't forced to wait for the film to be released! Sod the film, it was a game for gamers! Is anyone really bothered about the film? Would we all like their efforts to be put into the next one than a film. Films into computer games - fine. Computer games into films? - Tombraider? I think I've made my point.
