Default Pricing...really good!

I've been thinking about the pricing methods in so many different ways, and I believe that this one suits me the best.

I was going to buy the $399.99 version in place of the $299.99 version, after reading countless posts about how "360 iz teh biggest suxxor." Although, picture it like this...

Say in some other reality, you bought the 299.99 version, and it came with a HDD. People would be in the streets. the 399.99 accessories, minus the HDD is still worth what...170 dollars? that means even if you bought the rest of the accessories separately, you could have saved 70 bucks just by getting the 399.99 version. It really doesn't make sense unless I explained it in person, but if you were going to buy the rest of the stuff that is related to the 360, they just saved you money by making these packages.

Yeah I agree, if you were to buy the Core version and bought all the accessories that you get in the Premium version separately it would cost you way more than 399.99, so I think that the Premium Version is a great deal.

I can't believe how cheap the Xbox 360 is going to be compared to the Xbox when it came out amazing. !

The only thing is that the Premium package seems appealing because of the outrageous accessory prices.

For example, the Premum package costs $399. The total value is about $490 (?).

The wireless controller really should cost $40 and the HDD should be about $70, so take about $40 away from the total value and it's still a good value. It just seems like a really good deal because of the high accessory prices.

Why are people STILL comparing the price of the Premium Pack vs buying the Core Pack plus all the accessories separately? Yes, the Premium Pack is better value, anyone can see that, but nobody in their right mind would buy the Core Pack and then go and buy all of the accessories that come with the Premium Pack...do you think people are that stupid?

The Core Pack is for people who aren't bothered about going on-line, aren't bothered about downloaded content, and aren't bothered about all the other non-gaming stuff that Microsoft are pushing with the XBox 360. I know several people who are ordering the Core Pack plus memory card, and using the money saved to buy a game, a pizza, and some beers.

I wish this (now really boring) topic would be laid to rest...

Yes, it would be nice if the complaining would stop. I will buy the Premium because $399 sounds reasonable for what I'm getting. I don't think all the accessories are that overpriced.

For example, I've been wanting the Logitech wireless controllers for XBox for a while now. Until the last couple of months, they've been $70, which makes $50 for the MS360 controllers sound like a reasonable deal. Yes, first-party memory cards are a bit expensive, but Sony and Nintendo charged a premium for their memory cards, especially at system launch.

And, believe it or not, there are peole in the world who are not concerned with online gaming. There are some towns in America (and the rest of the world) where broadband is either nonexistent or just too expensive to have. There are people who prefer to play single player games. There are people who are too busy to pay attention to when new content is released for games. For them, the $299 package is probably a good thing.

I Call bogus. I lived in a town of around 2,000 people and we have DSL. The town is small and we actually have three options for Broadband. The only people I see buying the core package are parents who wont fork over the cash for the premium package, or emotional people who can't wait to save up another $100.
