Default Photoshop and other program alternatives

I have used all of these programs and they all work fine they are widly used. I personally can not tell much of a differance between the programs other than some things take longer in the free programs but it can still be done

Photoshop:Gimp

GIMP - The GNU Image Manipulation Program

Illustrator:Inkscape

Inkscape. Draw Freely.

Maya:Blender

blender.org :: Home

Photoshop brushes can be converted with a script found on deviant art and a program called abrviewer.net any questions on using this i PM me i can help
as for slicing you souldnt use it anyway it can mess up when it expands so use html but there are other programs for that you can find

Brush converter

GIMP Batch brush converter by ~kward1979uk on deviantART

abrViewer.net

SourceForge.net: abrViewer.NET

Microsoft also has some programs in beta and does not have all features up and running but has enough to get you familiarized there are 3 programs here is the link

Microsoft Expression - Home

I like Photoshop much better than Inkscape and GIMP. It's bigger but it just does so much more. Plus, it's what I'm used to. Blender is a nice little program, especially since it's free! Love it.

tru tru but ya get what you pay for and sice gimp is free ill take it but one thing i have noticed about photoshop is that all the effects are smoother than gimp in gimp they are all jagged and stuff and takes alot more time to produce the same thing such as an outline but it works well enough

There's a pretty cool program called Pixel out. I think you have to pay like $20 USD for it though... It does have a trial.
