Instead of opening 30 boxes before you find an unscratched disc why not just shake the case and make sure the discs arent loose??? Seems like a better idea to me.

Thats a good idea. I highly doubt any store would sell something where the disc is loose in he box. Then again you never know, some store's may want to try and get away with it!

It would suck if you shook 30-40 cases before you found one good one.

BU**ER bought mine off ebay (DOH!) still if it's dodgy can always go round and beat a unmarked copy out the dealer as know where he lives and where his kids go to school!
Have not waited all year for this to get a disk that looks like someones old 75 records from pre history.

Go to IGN.com and watch the video they have of the editor guy opening the Halo 3 legendary edition box. When he opens the game case the disk just fell right out. I think it even came with two disks and both fell right out.

IGN: Halo 3: Opening the Legendary Box

So maybe you legendary peeps should be worried too.

I went through 2 SE versions. Even though in the 2nd package I could hear that the disk was loose, luckily the spindle itself came loose from the box, with the disk still attached to it. Thus resulting in no scratches on the game disk. On the first package, the disk popped off the spindle, scratching the inner portion of the game disk.

Who knows, you may get lucky!!!

Same thing happened to a friend of mine and myself today. We picked up our reserves and both tins were noisey so we opened them up at the store to show them the damage done to the discs. Luckily the damage was very minor, mine cleaned right up, so a replacement wasn't necessary, but I did talk them into giving me a standard edition H3 case to store the game disc in to prevent scratching from the tin case. All is well.

Thats what my guy did, until one didn't shake so he opened it and the extras disc wasn't scratched, but gameplay one was, so he just took a clean disc out of a regular edition and put it in mine..

At least the Legendary edition come in standard dvd cases. I'd be really pissed if those were messed up. I don't know why they didn't use the same case type that they did for halo2 LE. 2 discs no scratches.

Looks like it's time to go back to cartridges and VHS.

I bought the Collectors Edition (only 10 bucks more for another DVD) and it is true, both discs were off their mounts and just laying in the tin. Thankfully though no scratches were made and I was able to be fully addicted to this great game.
