Halo 3 Game Saves in particular Single Player

Hi,

Has anyone else had any problems with single player.

I'll explain.....

I started single player, completed Level 1, got the acheivement, proceeded to chapter 2.

"Jack Wants to Play" popped up on my screen.

So given I just finished a bit of single player, I accepted, jumped into some online matches for a few hours.

Later I decided to pick up where I left off, it loads the screen, then reverts back to the menu all over again.

So essentially my game save file refused to open.

I went to my dash board, deleted the file, and launched halo and created a new game save and single player game.

I completed Act 1, saved and quit out. Then I came back, and could resume no worries. So I started playing Act 2, then I left for another invite to a game. When I came back to my single player, it had reverted back to the training mission?

Am I missing something here?
Do I manually have to save everytime before I quit out?
Whats going on?

I'd be really piss*d if this happened while I was trying to do a harder mode etc.

Any one else have a similar issue or any tips to prevent loss of campaign.

Friends have also told me if you join a co-op game (on campain) that it wipes out your single player campaign in the process?

Ideas anyone?

You need to manually save before you go to a MP game or stop playing thats what I have been doing and never lost a save point yet. Hope this helps.

That was a massive help. The two times I just left without saving, I paid the price. The time I manually saved, I could continue.

Here be the lesson to save before accepting those annoying popups!

hey, i was wondering how to manually save. i just got through like 4 acts(if thats what it's called) and i quit and saved. came on minutes later finding out it didn't save sh*t. kinda sucks but next time i decide to play for a while i was wondering how to save so i wouldnt have to play it over from the start

This happened to me too. Even when I saved and quit, sometimes it would not save at all. I actually completed the game and didn't get the last achievement. When I checked the list, it showed some of the levels were not completed, wtf??? Anyhow, there might be some type of bug or something. Even the manual save screws up every now and then.

even when i did that i'd check back and it'd be fine. its just after i turn off the 360 and back on the next time it's back from the start.

Same thing happened to me but I found that the levels I did not get the achievement for I began playing SP then went co-op. I went back and completed them SP from the start point and was granted the achievement.

Never had that problem, because i didn't start a solo campaign, went with the online co-op
