Question Headset issues

Yesterday morning, I played Halo online for the first time. It's truly a different experience than campaign mode, and I understand why people lose days of their lives to this game.

I plugged the headset that came with my 360 into my wireless controller and had no problems talking throughout the day. I shut the system down for a bit to do some work around the house, and when I started again, people could hear me, but I couldn't hear them.

I could see that I was transmitting, but I couldn't hear anything. Although, I believe once while waiting for a match, I could hear two people through the TV, but not the headset.

any suggestions?

The wired headsets tned to be fragile and they break easily, thats why I bought a wireless one. Could be broken, or not. Keep trying, dude.

It sort of sounds like some sort of electrical short in the headset to me. Spartan called them "fragile" but really "cheap" is more appropriate. That's not a bad thing, since it allows MS to package them with every console. You should be able to use any 2.5mm headset if you're looking to replace it.

I know i'm gonna sound like a real knob for asking this, but have you made sure the volume hasn't been accidently turned all the way down?

360 Headsets are cheap, fragile, and semi-disposable in their construction quality.
I have had mine last. between 1 and 5 months. the one i currently have is starting to act up... one that I am keeping as an emergency backup transmits sound but does not recieve so i have to set the voice to come out the speakers.
Most of the accessories for the 360 are quality pieces but sadly the Headsets are not.

What do you people do to your headsets??? I've never had one break, although I realize that they are cheap by design. If you're going to replace it anyway, get a better quality aftermarket headset.
