Posts: 109 | I am a Halo fan. I didn't have an XBOX at launch but my two friends did and they both bought Halo. I bought a Cube (I have a family and love Mario and Zelda so sue me) at it's launch and enjoyed Rogue Squadron and Wave Race. But then I went to a LAN party they had around Christmas and I was blown away! I got schooled at Halo (the Duke controller didn't help) but I thought I have to get this! So for my birthday in March I picked up an XBOX and Ralisport Challenge (no Halo you ask?). I borrowed my friends game to play the single player just to make sure. I was sold. My Wife and I played the co-op and had a blast. Halo LAN parties were a staple for the next 2 years. I have read the books and have enjoyed the Halo lore. For anybody that thinks Halo 2 is too short, they didn't play on Heroic or Legendary. Bungie made the Easy and Normal levels of Halo 2 much more accesible since they knew it would be a hit and they didn't want to pound new players into the dirt. There should have been a disclaimer on the box that says experienced Halo 1 players need to start on Heroic or Legendary. If they did that they would not be saying the game is short, they would be screaming in frustration in just the Hangers on the 1st Level!
I can't wait for Halo 3.

Posts: 299 | I bought an Xbox predominantly for Halo (although I got around 6-8 other games with it). I'd played co-op in Game (The Silent Cartographer) and after around half an hour or an hour we were told to get off it. It was so engrossing. Made me wonder to myself why other games don't put a lot of focus on co-op gaming. It really is beautiful.
Once i'd actually bought the game I only played through it once, properly with a friend. We completed it in a few days, but it was such a journey. The landscapes were incredibly varied and the weapons reeked of realism. I later played through a few levels myself on Legendary, and then played through most of them with the same friend on Legendary. An eye-opening experience.
Then Halo 2 came along and I decided to wait till the hype died down (like I previously did for the original) before buying it. I got it preowned, alongside Outrun 2 and played it through. Some parts were truly inspiring, but in the latter parts of the game it just felt like they'd run out of ideas. As I ran through 20 corridors with the exact same shading, I just didn't want to play it anymore. So I set it down. And didn't touch it till a few months later. I decided to finish it off for good. The ending was an absolute shock, I lapped it up. But I haven't really played it since, besides the odd go on Legendary here and there.
I play it a lot on Live though. |

IMO it was a breat ending because thats exactly how a cliffhanger is supposed to feel.
I can safly say that the end of Halo 3 will be much more complete and close up the storyline.

Posts: 124 | Life sucks for me. I thought Xbox was the worst ever when it first came out, so I got a PS2 and Nintendo Gamecube. WORST move of my gaming life. Nintendo owned themselves, Xbox owned Sony, and I had the consoles that got owned by 2 games. Halo, and Halo 2. i am soo getting Halo 3. And as for books, I read Fall of Reach, The Flood, and First Strike, and I hope that the next one ccomes out soon I want to know how Halo 2 went(the most I played of Halo 2 was at Comics Direct and it's $5 for 2 hours. So i got to around levels 8-10.) Long live Xbox!!!!! Quote: |

When I play Halo on PC (cries) you have to flame at people because there are so many team killers, and then there are people who try to put you down for beating them. Kinda weird. People don't know that nub sounds like tub. and that if you call someone a noob for killing you just beccause you're jealous makes you a super noob. I can't wait for Christmas so I get the xbox360 and xbox live where it will hopefully be a better enviroment. =)

Posts: 325 | I had not played a vidiogame since 1984,(Missile Command) For some reason, last January I decided to by an xbox, out of boredom. My wife was in Costa Rica. So i get my xbox, and I search Google for "best xbox game" Halo 2 came up, so that was my first game.
I started the campaign, and was very frustrated because I sucked.
After a few weeks, I tried my 2 month subscription, and was immediately thrown into the world of Halo 2 on line. Too many arseholes. I would have let my trial expire, and never tried again.
Luckilly, I saw an article on xbox.com about http://www.geezergamers.com
I joined up there, met some cool people, joines a clan. Custom games are a joy when you are playing with mature people who love to play for fun.
Becaue of this, I am involved with several online communities, and run two clan sites. Geezers-Phoenix, a Halo 2 clan. And Vipersqaud, a multi game clan
Even matchmaking is fun, when yolur entire team is on the same page, and crushing the little beasties in matchmaking.
Because of Halo 2, I have made some great friends all over the world, and we (some of us) all get together every couple of months for huge lan parties, with food drinks, Halo, Halo 2 and Ghost Recon 2 Summit Strike.
Yeah I love Halo. |
