Default Guitar Hero 2

Hey people,

Has anyone heard any concrete information on a release date for the Xbox 360 version of Guitar Hero 2? I played it quite a bit at a New Year's party on the PS2...sure was fun.

I don't know the date, but it was announced a few months back.

1up has it pegged as 1st of March 2007, but release dates are not as well defined as they used to be (Lumines anyone?)

Guitar Hero 2 Xbox 360 Preview, Guitar Hero 2 Preview

I also played it on the PS2 over Christmas and it rocks hard.

Continuing the GH discussion, I'm curious to know where you guys see this game going in the future.

I've only played it a little bit, but I'm amazed with the innovative gameplay, and can't help but think that we're on the edge of something bigger here. I know there are a lot of legalities when it comes to music right now, but putting that aside for a moment, wouldn't it be cool if you could not only download songpacks, but write your own tablature and upload it for the world to try and play? Ideally we could take any song, create the tabs, then upload it all for the rest of the folks to try and play.

Eventually it would be sweet to have the other instruments come in also...like drums and keyboard...and finally you could tie it together with some karaoke and have the whole band a-rockin'!

Red face

Yeah, no one seems to know when it will hit, for sure. I thought I had heard late February or March, but when it's this hard to find any even remotely concrete dates, that means we could be waiting a while.

As for the game itself, I felt it was pretty fun. It certainly ramps up in difficult at a ridiculous pace, and on the PS2 I found many of the tracks started to get repetitive. That's something the 360 can solve, with more and more downloadable tracks.

However, I'm not sure the title will ever be next gen. It simply doesn't need the graphical facelift, since you rarely have a second to take your eyes off the notes.

All in all, it isn't about to knock Forza 2 or Halo 3 off my top list of games for this year, but GH should be pretty cool when it does land.

It would be great to see GH introduce a drum track and a fourth player option (Rhythm guitar? Cowbell?). Karaoke would be fun for some, but the whole attraction for me is that I don't have to sing, and neither do I have to listen to anyone else sing (yeah, I'm not a fan of the old karaoke).

Drums would be sweet though. I wonder if the Donkey Kong bongos can be modded to work with it?

I love guitar hero, it brings back great memories (Guitar Freaks anyone?) My local movie theater had guitar freaks and I would waste so much money on that game. When I saw that GH came to the US my first thought was, "alright now I dont have to mod my PS2 to play!" Really looking forward to seeing this on the 360.

Actually they do have that for all the bemani games! (Guitar Freaks, Drum Mania, Keyboard Mania) So awsome when you get a group that knows what they are doing to play.

Would have been better wireless, but due to legal issues with MS the developers were not allowed to.

I can't wait for it. I liked GH1 on the PS2. Haven't played GH2 yet though. Mainly because my PS2 died awhile back and since I got my 360 I've seen no point in getting another one, traded in all my games and accessories and got 360 games and accessories in their place lol.

Why? Do you know me? Can you read my mind? NO!!! Let me set the record straight...

I don't like Anime, Final Fantasy, or any PS2 exclusives other than the WWE wrestling games (exclusive at the time). I'm mainly a FPS and sports gamer. I find sports titles better on the Xbox. Look at NCAA 2006 side-by-side on each console. PS2 is jaggy city lol. Xbox is nice and smooth maybe a jaggy here and there but not everywhere like on the PS2. Colors are better on the Xbox. I made all these comparisons when I was at my local GameStop. The had a setup of NCAA 2006 back in July to get people ready for NCAA 2007. Both systems running the same game on the same TVs. PS2 looked like plain ****. Everyone was talking it about there that day. The manager even switched the TVs and same thing, PS2 looked like crap.

So that might have been a bad move in your opinion for me to sell my games and accessories but I am way happier with going the Xbox route.

My wife on the other hand lol loves RPGs and FF and all that, so she's of course got her own PS2 that I don't touch, that was until I seen her play GH1. We have fun rocking out on it.

Ok so after all that back on topic... Yes I do hope they have downloadable songs on the marketplace for the 360 version. I highly doubt that will happen but it would be nice. Yes a wireless guitar would be nice too. The PS2 has wireless. I hope Microsoft works something out with them to make it so.
