Posts: 2,154 | I played for about 2 hours and have not hit a load screen yet. So far the game is great. Very well done voice acting and script for the story. Graphics are very well done. I just finished the mission bleed

Posts: 5,235 | I've been primarily free roaming and so far ... Yeah its GTA. What more can you expect? I ****ing love the AI dialogue, the cars are polished nicely and the diversity is remarkable. It's obvious they didn't deviate too much which is a great thing although for a moment I thought I was playing in SA and not in Liberty City (as far as gameplay not graphics). |

Posts: 653 | I just went to my bro's house and cranked up his copy of GTA4. We played for 1 hour, basically didn't get far, but it feels, looks, and plays brilliantly.
Hows that for indepth review.
Seriously though, I cant wait to really sit down with this game. Today was a simple tease.

Posts: 717 | My local EB Games (where my pre order was) opened at 7am. So i got up and got ready for work early and picked it up super quick (there was only 4 people waiting in front of me, probably most of the hardcores went to the midnight opening at other stores). Got my Special Edition home and unwrapped it like a 5 year old on christmas morning.
Was able to get an hours game play in before I had to come to work *cry*. The game is great and everything I had hoped for. Graphics are exactly as expected, they look polished but nothing ground breaking, exactly what GTA is known for. Gameplay is great and the improvements to the combat system and driving are great. I love the game and just wanna get back home to play it more :P
Drove to work and listened to the soundtrack on the way

Posts: 2,043 | Ok, I'm stuck in the middle here. I've never really been into GTA games, and never really been a fan of the whole gameplay. But everybody is saying it's so awesome so i'm feeling like a ****ing loser if I don't get it. Is it really worth my 55 euros? And I don't want any answers from fanboys like Alex, so...
Somebody convince me to buy this game.

Somebody convince me to buy this game. | if you are unsure you should rent it first and see if you like it. Personally I have always been a fan of the series so for me getting it was a no brainer. If you don't like the previous ones then that might answer your question, this basically builds on previous releases and brings it into the current gen. Most people who play this love it though, its a huge open world with lots to do, and with multiplayer getting such good reviews also it makes it great bang for buck (its great bang for buck with single player alone anyway, loads of hours of gameplay at your mercy!)
Rent it or borrow it from a mate and just play it, you will see fairly quickly whether you like it enough to buy it for yourself or not.

I just really need to be convinced to buy this game.

Posts: 358 | i really can't see anyone getting this game and not liking it. graphics are truly next-gen. gameplay is a step up from others in the GTA series as expected. story is very well played out so far (3 hours in). new combat system is much improved and enjoyable and gives you some flexibility (punching and disarming opponent). i can see all RPGers loving this. most FPSers already love the series anyway.
my only negative so far is the tight driving physics. i'm having a hard time turning, but that will just improve with experience. the reason it's harder is because it's much more realistic than the past games. the damage physics are incredible. if you just scrape up against something, you get a realistic scrape on your paint job and possible dent.
also, cops seem to be tougher to evade so far. nearly every time you commit a crime you have the cops on you. but it is awesome to break out a window on a parked sports car and then try to outrun nearby cops.
conclusion: buy the game. you won't be disappointed.

Posts: 5,235 | I wouldn't go so far as to say the graphics are truly next generation. They are an impressive upgrade from its predecessors but "on the whole" it is nothing stellar or mind blowing. I have noticed the preliminary missions are very boring but I have no doubt they will become more intense as I progress through the game. |
