Important site changes

To all planetxbox360.com site members,

You are most likely aware that changes have been made to the forums recently. The rearranged forums are no longer as specific as they once were. Forums like general chat have been opened up and re-named to ‘off topic discussions’ and places like newbies and troubleshooting is covered in the general 360 chat. You will also notice that some threads/post are not in the same location as they once were. However, no threads or posts have been deleted of importance. The changes should serve to be an improvement overall, with new members being less confused as to where they should post. In effect, this should also increase the number of new members signing up and staying with us.

If you cannot find a particular thread, please use the search function at the top right-hand side of the forum toolbar.

If there are any further questions regarding any site changes please do not hesitate to voice them in this thread. Further site changes will also be announced in this particular thread.

Well have to say if this is the new ???? site look with half the threads you can not find and not a lot of members you can keep it this site is not the same.
and i have lost over 100 post

I feel that throwing all the game discussion into a generalised ' xbox 360 discussion' title makes it a mess in my opinion. I think that those who want to post about a specific genre will want to post in that genre specific section , It would make more sense to add sub forums those including 3 to 4 main gaming genre's to therefore cut down on the forum size but not losing out on the organised look to the forum. I do not like the idea of all game discussion in one section , as i feel those who post valid information will have the threads made redundant by the mass amount of threads being posted into one section only.

Just made my feelings to you Endwar and you said you will take them on board so it's all good.

i just hit the new posts link all the time. i can't remember the last time i actually went through the forums. it did look kinda weird though missing 3/4 of a page of threads.
but from looking at other forums, like on xbox.com, they keep them pretty streamlined...there wasn't a whole lot that i saw, so maybe this is the way a lot of people expect forums to be? could help though.

It does feel very dumbed down. I see your aim EndWar but still, at least the games subforums were good, now all games are jumbled into one forum. I know most click on 'New Posts' or 'Todays Posts'

But if your looking for something specific its bit of a joke, and the search engine isnt great for detailed searchs.

it makes sense to me.
Perhaps it gives the illusion of being 'smaller' to some members - but it doesn't seem rational to have 3/4 of your forums seeing less than 1 thread a week at times: that's means there's too many.

Keeps the conversation more centralized and more accessible IMO.

Having said that - does this now mean that we will see an end to the over-indulgent modding of so-called 'spam' threads simply because they don't quite fit the staffer's intepretation of the forum header?

Provided there's no unauthorized advertising, flaming or baiting going on - I think a 'Live and let live' philosophy works best for the future.

i'm not too sure whether i like this or not, it does look a bit too basic but it doesn't affect me personally becuase i find new threads with the RSS feed and other than that i just check my subscriptions for replies so i havn't actually looked through the forums since i got here

I also find it very basic as Shane said , Is there any chance we could just add sub forum for genre specific games etc.

It does feel weird using it at first but it's one of those things you get used to.

There is an upside, if you reduce the number of forums, it is more likely that any specific thread in a forum will be seen by more people therefore likely to be posted in more.

It looks a lot neater. Why do we need the Tom Clancy thread and others on the front page when there hasn't been a post there in months? That makes us look like a dead community to new visitors.

Yeah NA some stuff happened or didn't happen and then some moderators/members were banned/demoted. And then a week later some were unbanned. It's all very hush hush and very very mysterious........

its joel gone too? I havent seen him since it all went down. Can we get an official cover story or something? inquiring minds would like to know where all the mods/regulars went/got banned to. Kinda wierd, they let me out of my cage, then a month later, everyone else is banned!!

All the missing guys started another Forum with it's own Shoutbox, but now that the Shoutbox is back up here.... most will probably migrate back at least partially.... while the banned guys will be setting up shop exclusively in their new forum.

An internet search for "Scotracer" should reveal the site to you.

If admin doesn't like me telling where the missing guys went then i'm sorry, it's just that some of us have been friends for 3+ years so having some friends just disappear with no idea how to keep in touch is just not nice, and not really acceptable.
