Posts: 4,034 | Car stock/CO2 emissions. China has a population of around 1.4 Billion, It has 14million cars in the country.
India has a pop. of 1.1 Billion, It has 12million cars in the country.
France has 35million cars for 65million people, UK has 32million cars for 60million people, and the USA has 223 million cars for 303million people.
Now considering the fast pace China and parts of India are advancing towards a 1st world economy(Most of us know China will be the new superpower in 20 years) The amount of cars in these countrys is only going to increase,Now I may be stating the bloody obvious, but assuming this fact, and the obvious increase of car demands in these countrys, then use this while considering alot of asian/african/eastern europe countries that are advancing, its gets a bit scary.
There will be hundreds of millions of cars in China alone, and high double digits in India, maybe more. They aren't all going to be riding bikes when they start making good wages.
There are over 650 million motor vehicles in the World today, in 2020 there most likely will be almost 2 billion vechicles. Take into account the Co2 fumes given off(and oil needed) and the amount of new Industrys that will be poping up all over the place over the next 12 years and its safe to say our o-zone/atmosphere is fooked.
Im sure alot of you knew this, and may think im just beating a dead hippie horse, but It makes you seriously wonder.
I knew we were ****ing up this planet, its hard not to with all the global warming stuff we here constantly but I had no idea how much emmisions we would be giving off in several years, or the damage we were really doing.

Posts: 5,352 | Yeah the average temperature has increased by 1 degree over the past 30 years. Everyone abandon ship! Women and children first!!!! The entire green movement isn't limited to the US and EU ... China is manufacturing hybrid automobiles and currently developing methods to reduce carbon emissions. Although ratified, China's participation in the Kyoto Protocol is limited and laughable. Your demagoguery is quite comedic and I give you +5 for the effort. I love how like minded people resort to scare tactics and hypothetical estimations to frighten others into jumping on your bandwagon. As I have stated before, build more Nuclear Reactors and the dependence on oil and coal will decrease significantly. |

The danger and thought of nuclear plants near them just freak people out, can't say Im much different. the Brits have a plant in cellafield across the Irish sea and if it ****s up naturally the east of Ireland will dissapear with it, and there is cancer rumours on the coast of louth which is across the sea and downwind from the plant.
who knows.
and lets not forget chernobyl.

Posts: 2,650 | Eventually we will really see the effects of Co2 emissions (I do not believe we are causing Global warming, but...) and the worlds governments will quickly ban/limit Co2 emissions. Then there will be a revolt, leading to "the revolution" causing a mass apocalypse. Then the rebels will then Hi-Jack nuclear weapons and destroy the earth. And like God said, there will be fire. |

Posts: 3,229 | There is no proof of global warming: Fact. The research is guided too much by the corrupt hands of governments. What we do have is climate instability...is humanity the cause? We may be contributing but it is just the normal cycle of things.
Sure, cutting down CO2 emissions is always a good thing (well, it is when there is a balance between that and forested areas to photosynthesise it into O2) but it is not bringing this earth to a standstill. Dammit, I read a report the other day that said there was another Ice Age impending! There is apparently a lack of Solar activity in the form of Sun Spots to keep the earth at a constant temperature.
People don't understand how much CO2 there actually is in air...virtually 0% by mass, by volume or by witchcraft!
Oh and onto Cancer: Pretty much every person who has ever died (vast, vast majority) died of cancer. It's not some new phenomenon that we should fear. It is entirely natural! All cancer is, is the failure of the gene instructions to deactivate certain genes in the DNA and RNA in each cell of your body (gotta love having a parent who's a chemotherapist/pharmacist ^_^). Sure, mutagens can provoke it but it happens to pretty much everyone -- car crash victims, murdered people etc not withstanding. If we can cure cancer, we may even cure that bastard of an ailment -- death.
Nuclear power stations are amongst the greenest and very safe. We know much more about nuclear fission now, than we ever have and can control it very well. Chernobyl? You can't right of a great invention because of bloody minded human bravado and ignorance when it came to controlling it.
Meh, can't be bothered finishing this post. brb. |

Posts: 2,824 | We have only affected around 1% of the atmosphere so far. People act like letting their car warm up for 10 minutes before work is gonna burn us alive. I'm all for keeping the environment clean and healthy, but some **** that people say is ridiculous. |

Posts: 398 | Naturally, the planets temperature always fluctuates. There's no denying the world is heating currently but there is no proof co2 emissions are causing it. Only 2 percent of the co2 in the atmosphere is from humans. Now just because there is no hard evidence to prove one way or another doesn't mean we shouldn't cut back. Like already stated, nuclear power plants would be the best way to cut back on oil, and coal consumption. Although it doesn't bother me, I know a lot of people would be worried to live near a nuclear power plant no matter how safe they have become. |
