Posts: 1,982 | Like Mik, I can't stand politicians. I mean I'll support one that I believe could be "good" for our country and I mainly stick with conservatives, but still. I'm tired of partisanship in America. I'm tired of everybody talking and never acting. It's all hypocritical and I always get the feeling that there is more than meets the eye (in a bad way). It's always about getting more money, pushing your agenda, and aquiring more support, never about what is BEST for the nation.
Now I used to be a strong supporter for George Bush, but I just don't care anymore. The man has flat-out failed in Iraq and he can't own up to it. Enough is enough, start pulling troops. Now, I am a right-wing conservative so saying this is kind of a big step (lol). I think we have bigger issues with nations such as Iran, but that's another matter.
Now in relation to global warming, again, I just believe its another natural cycle the earth is taking. If it's not? I don't care, when the polar ice caps start melting and flooding the earth, I'll be in my grave. Who gives a ****? And no "An Inconvenient Truth" is NOT the best documentary of the year. Al Gore sucks balls. |

A blizzard has been pounding the north east.
Oh wait, its going to be 70 degrees in September, GLOBAL WARMING!
We were told that the real showing of Global Warming will show up in the winter.
I have a question, who's shoveling the snow outside Al Gore's house?

There is no "getting there". I've been following Iran's actions and it's presidents remarks for over a year now. His blatent hatred of the west, Israel, US, etc. is frightening. He needs to be taken seriously and quite a few politicians in America are blind to it. His rhetoric is very arrogant and scary and it reminds me of hitler honestly. President Ahmaninejad has stated he wants to "wipe Israel off the face of the earth", he believes the holocaust is a hoax, he hates the US. He also believes in this guy called the 12th Imam Mahdi who is supposedly supposed to come and reign over the earth. This guy can't come into the picture until chaos and destruction happen all over the earth, and Ahmaninejad said he wanted to hasten the appearance of the Mahdi. That is frightening even if the Mahdi is a myth. He wants to bring destruction to his enemies, in the name of his religion, and the west is one of those in his sights.
Now I know Iraq is next to Iran, I took geography in high school thank you very much. I also understand its a sort of a good strategic move, but all I want is for the soldiers to get out of Iraq. Whether they leave and come back to the US, or whether they leave and head straight for President Ahmaninejad, I just want something done. However I prefer heading straight towards Iran.

btw, it was the concervatives that started this country. It was the super stodgy religious people that came to america because brittan wasnt religious enough for the puritans! ya libby heathens!
back in those days, liberal ment your dictionary version, easy. They were "liberals" back then, our founding fathers, but in todays terminology they would be called libertarian concervatives. The tides have flipped for some reason. It was the concervatives that set the slaves free and held the union together. Back then, the Democrats were concervatives and there was no republican party.. there was other partys (whigs and others) instead.
somewhere in the 1900's they flipped sides as republicans came to become a major party. Republicans werent "religious" nuts until the 70's if i remember correctly. Goldwater, a republican name which still carries weight led the republicans into a more viable party. Today he would be called a Libertarian, infact, before he died, he said he was a libertarian but couldnt leave his party. He warned against the republicans going too far "right" and picking up religion as part of its practice. That is how the republicans originally came into power, and how people like Regan became president. It was all a play to grab the ultra concervative vote. Then you have the Socialists/Communists/ and other ultra liberal groups all moving into the democrat party, pushing the democrats far to the left. That is how the meaning liberal went from your dictionary version, to the american version(atleast here in america), as the term liberal stayed w/ the democrats as they were going far left. Do you understand now why the term Liberal in america has nothing to do w/ your dictionary version? You dont have to understand it, but it is true.
I myself am a card carying Libertarian. My views are very much aligned w/ the constitution (free market, light government control, more social freedom)
Which would make me very "concervative" when it comes to things like government size, the need to keep government out of buisness, and the need for little to no tax. The government pulls in billions of extra, uneeded tax dollars every year, and throws them in "pork spending" programs. Basically, it just throws it out to whatever projects it feels like, instead of reducing taxes and letting us keep our money. In a literal sence, thats is very liberal spending by the government. Its unneeded, and frankly isnt constitutional.
Im very much pro-freedom. Your body, your life, your decision, government has no buisness telling you what to do with it.
That goes for abortion, drugs, education, and your living situation and anything else you can throw in. If your not hurting someone else, its not the governments business. (lets not go abortion please)
Programs such as welfare, medicare, universal healthcare, HUD,foodstamps, property tax (why do you pay taxes every year on something you buy once?!?!?),death tax, estate tax, prize tax(why do you give up 50% automatically?!) subsities for failing businesses, all need to dissapear. In america, by the time you die, you get to keep only like 7cents on the dollar of everything you make after taxes by the time the government is done taking. Im sure its much smaller in european countrys and the like w/ universal health care.
If you are too lazy to get a job, then live in the streets. Only like 4% of people on welfare in america are truely disabled and cannot get or hold a real job. Quit rewarding people for breeding! I have met many familys that have 4 or 5 kids, and get about 50k a year in welfare, free food, and free houses on top. That is rediculous.
Anyways, all those programs are LIBERAL social spending programs. They are designed more to keep people stagnant and get votes than to help people. My tax money goes to buy some libby politicians votes.. I hate that.
For some reason LIBERALS believe to fix things, they need to raise taxes. Which has been proven time and time again to reduce your economy. Lowering taxes gives the economy a boost, and you get more taxes that way. Its really easy to see. The more liberal the country is, the higher the tax rate, the slower its economy is, the more people live in poverty on social programs, so they raise the taxes on the few working, which puts more out of work, which lowers the economy which makes more people live in poverty on the social programs, which raises taxes on the people working......... see a pattern? Liberal's love of tax stagnates and strangles an economy until there isnt anything left.
Edit: Just thought of a good example. If i remember correctly, in FRANCE (libby swine all the way) they had a high unemployment rate. Instead of lowering taxes or doing something to entice businesses to open up in france, they made the "full time" work week 24 hrs, which forced the employers to hire more people. More over, they told employers that the new "full time" got paid as the old "full time". So if you were making say 700 a week working 40 hrs, you now got 700 a week working 24 hrs. Now to the lazy or uneducated, that may seem like a great idea " a full weeks pay in 24 hrs!!! yay". Unfortunatly, it doubled the cost of everything(gotta pay for all those new workers somehow) and therefor made EVERYONE more poor, and in worse condition than they started). That is what i remeber of it. That is a "liberal" idea on how to "help" people. A financially concervative person would of lowered taxes and any levies on busineses to attract more jobs in the country, lowering poverty by adding real jobs, not fake ones, and adding more tax dollars to the government by the new higher economy. A win/win situation. It may not of been an "immidiate" way to "help" people, but it was a real and long lasting way, not a short term band-aid that makes things worse.
You cant tell me you like paying around $4 or so in taxes on your fuel do u? Gotta pay for that universal healthcare somehow. Liberal programs cost alot of money.
If you reduced your taxes and cut these stupid programs, people would keep more of their paycheck and be able to afford insurance. The more people that can afford insurance, the cheaper it gets, the cheaper it gets, the more people can afford it. The more that can afford it, the cheaper it gets. on and on. Its the same effect, exept the end result is everyone has their own cheap insurance (which would probably cost less per person in the end than universal health care by far).
Both parties have their good points, and both parties have their bad points, but understand when i call you a libby, its because of the defending of your social programs and liberal viewpoints. | My gun view on your gun laws are not liberal its common sense and if you want to talk about living in the past your gun laws were introduced hundreds of years ago(Second Amendment 1787). Its an archaic law that was only relevent in that era. Guns have no place in the hands of people too fragile to be trusted with them. Every day the media is terrorising us with reports of violence and suffering. You must be living in fear to take such drastic steps to defend yourselves in todays society.
btw thats the first good post I have read from you on the subject of politics. Now I understand your take on the word. But like I said I am far from your version of Liberal. I have many views on many subjects you have quoted two.
Thats a fairly broad analogy to stereotype me based on two opinions.
You talk about our government spending like your govenment doesnt waste money.
The US government has just estimated that President George Bush’s occupations of Afghanistan and Iraq, and his so-called war on terror, will cost at least $690 billion by the end of next year. That’s more than the total cost to America of World War I, the Korean War, or Vietnam, and second only to the $2trillion cost of World War II (in current dollars).
This means that by 2008, Bush’s wars in the Muslim world will have cost each American man, woman, and child $2,300.
The $690 billion poured into the bottomless hole of the faux war on terrorism does not include the estimated $100 billion direct cost of the 9/11 attacks, the urgent need to replace $66 billion of US military equipment worn out or destroyed in Iraq and Afghanistan, billions in lifetime care for seriously injured soldiers, $125 billion in backlogged veteran’s claims, and untold billions spent in secret CIA programs in Afghanistan and Iraq. Ironically, half of the money spent on these wars is being borrowed from former American enemies, Communist China and Japan. Half the current American deficit is being tied directly to the war on terrorism. After six years, the Bush/Cheney Administration cannot even define what it means by victory in its wars in the Muslim World.
Defeat looms large in Iraq; Afghanistan is headed that way; and the US National intelligence Estimate just reported that al-Qaida is actually stronger than ever. The still elusive Osama bin Laden, who said the only way to expel US influence from the Muslim World was to bleed the US financially, must be beaming over the success of his grand strategy.
As all kings have found since the dawn of time, in war, money is as important as armies. Wars always cost far more than originally projected. A primary architect of the 2003 Iraq War, former US Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz, assured Americans the Iraq war would only cost $40 billion. The cost of occupying Iraq would be fully covered, he claimed, by plundering its oil. Wolfowitz now heads the World Bank.
Speaking of epic idiocy, enter the man selected by Wolfowitz to become proconsul of US-occupied Iraq, a bumbling conservative Republican hack named Paul Bremer.
During the 14 months he ran Iraq, Bremer committed two enormous follies. He dissolved Iraq’s army and police, then fired all government employees who were members of Saddam’s Ba’athist Party. Iraq was left without security forces or functioning government.
The first lesson in Imperialism 101 is that when you invade a country, the first thing to do is buy the loyalty of its army, police, and bureaucracy.
Chaos ensured in Iraq. Banks and museums were looted. Banditry was endemic. For a few hundred million dollars, the US could have hired much of Saddam’s army, security forces, and bureaucrats. Instead, the Bush/Cheney Administration declared them outlaws and began using Shia militias and death squads – called the “Iraqi Army” by the US media – to fight the Sunni resistance, so helping to trigger today’s ghastly Sunni-Shia civil war.
Chaos in US-occupied Iraq, and the collapse of its banking system and Ba’ath Party-run social programs, forced Washington to rush 363 tons of US $100 dollar bills to Baghdad. This money, which belonged to Iraq, came from the UN-run “Oil for Food” program. Bremer’s people dished out $12 billion by the truckloads and bagfuls. Another $800 million was stolen by US-appointed officials of Iraq’s Defense Ministry.
But Bremer’s missing $12.8 billion was just the tip of the corruption iceberg. US corporations in bed with the Republican Party’s rightwing, like Halliburton, and mercenary-supplier, Blackwater, made billions out of Iraq. Halliburton, whose former CEO was VP Cheney, was awarded $16 billion in questionable Iraq contracts.
Last week, House Democrats opened hearings that finally began to expose the tsunami of corruption that accompanied the occupation and plundering of Iraq. Billions more of fraud and thievery concealed by the Administration will likely be uncovered.
The whole sordid story of the 100,000 “private contractors” employed by the US in Iraq has only begun to emerge. According to the US Government Accountability Office, at least 48,000 of these – let’s use the correct term, mercenaries – are private gunmen working for hundreds of shadowy US military corporations like Blackwater and Vinnell. These heavily-armed desperados are a law unto themselves and under no supervision.
Some of these mercenaries make US $1,000 daily in Iraq and Afghanistan. While the US locks up Muslims it brands “illegal combatants” in Guantanamo, it has deployed an army of armed thugs in Iraq and Afghanistan. Even interrogation and torture of Iraqis and Afghans has been farmed out to US private enterprise.
The U.S. Government hasnt even started the rebuilding program. Lets face it New Orleans hasnt improved a year on so I cant see Iraq being any different. That country will be left in pieces. It will take Generations to recover (if they ever do)

Hell, we've been in debt for a longtime now and NO ONE has done much of anything to get us out of it. The United States financial situation is gravely in need of a fix. The stock-market might be ok, and the rate of unemployment may have improved lately, but we are so much in debt as a nation and it's getting worse every year that I wonder if something will ever be done. Here's to hoping America doesn't implode from financial ruin. If our enemies want to destroy us, all they have to do is just sit back and watch us spend away. Somebody needs to do something as I wonder if social security will even be there for me when I retire. Ah... America the beautiful and the debtor

eazy here's you r damn link you happy now? Urban Dictionary: liberal | who is to strip the government of this power? Politicians only give themselves more power. When is the last time you saw the government give up power voulentarily??? We must rise against, demonstrate, and take these fools out of power!
The government officials are abusing this power at a record rate. Some developer in atlanta bribed officials to force out some people that have had homes for decades, so they could tear em down and put up a shopping mall. The problem is the politicians. Why is it so damn hard to find an honest politician??[/quote]
because honest and politician dont go together. politicians tell you what you want to hear, the ones that dont dont get elected
and in response to your previous post, i'm a libby just because i dont think that they are complete retards because they have a different opinion of me? you make me ashamed to share any belief with you whatsoever |

And in regards to Global Warming, I do believe in it. Global warming does not necessarily mean that everything is warmer. It's just that the world's climate is changing, and it's projected for the worse.
I've never figured out why everybody wants to classify themselves a certain thing. Why does it matter if your a liberal or a conservative, or a left-wing w/e? Who cares about Democrats and Republicans and Green and whatever else there is? All it does is cause unnecessary loyalties which leads to other things such as the "I scratch your back, you scratch mine" type deals and two groups fighting and a bunch of other unnecessary things. If we got rid of all of these groups (especially Democrats and Republicans) that would be one major step forward in our government system (this mostly pertains to the US).
