Posts: 2,344 | I think people should have the right to smoke in private clubs. Secondly, I think they should ban smoking in houses where there are children around.
Personally, I hate cigarettes, tried one, just tastes like hot dust to me. But I still think people should have the right to smoke. Thats all part of being an American citizen. Freedom.

And what about the people who dont smoke yet pay good money for food and such in resturant and bars, dont they as an Amercian have the right and freedom not to have to take in second hand smoke while they breath?
(im aware this thread has nothing to do with US but just using it to prove spartans theory wrong)
But anyways i must say as a casual smoker and someone who desnt care much about 2nd smoke i think the ban is great, its been in place here about 5years id say, and noone argues with it, they did at start but now its just the norm.

so spartan.. u think its ok to smoke in a club but not your home which you paid for with your own mortgage? U obviously dont have a home of your own. No way in hell am I paying 1300 a month in mortgage and taxes and having the freaking government come in and big brother my ass telling me i cant smoke in my house. I have children. I dont allow anyone around my kid who smokes unless they wash their hands first and rinses some of that **** out of their mouth because its still dangerous to the kid. Its a PARENTAL responcibility, not a government job.
**knock knock knock*** Its the police.. open up!! We have proof of you smoking in your house!! Ur going to jail for 45 days!!
I dont think so.

U are kidding yourself if u dont think that would happen. | Why do you keep trying to take this in the direction of smoking rights in the home? The law is in regard to PUBLIC health in PUBLIC spaces, and has nothing to do with Big Brother watching what happens in your house! Keep it in context!

Posts: 4,837 | i'm not too sure about conditioner, the only info i have on it is from remix, he says that they put agents in it to make your hair fall out and go all patchy so that you are less attractive to women and therefore dont mate so the world ends

Posts: 2,442 | no jacko, they make ur hair fall out, so u go to a hair club and get threads put in. While they are adding hair, they put a mind control implant in there with a tracker.
if u use conditioner, you will end up a brainless assasination zombie.. just like in The Naked Gun. " I.. must...kill.. thequeen..."
no alex, i just understand government. If you come to the realization that government only gets bigger and always reaches for more power if not kept in heavy check, u will realize that further down the string of conciquences things like that will happen. The first time will be shocking, but then people will become used to it, and then the government will do it at will. U dont notice because u have been brought up in a heavy government society which proves my point. Our government is not nearly as controlling but its damn trying to get there.

A private club has employees, and therefore falls under the jurisdiction of the smoking ban. The legislature is in the process of rewritting the law to grant more lattitude to private clubs in response to arguments such as yours.

The government wants to take away our freedoms, and it always comes under the guise of protecting public health. The smoking ban, the asbestos ban, the lead based paint ban, automotive safety standards, food handling requirements and jaywalking laws are all designed to take us down the slippery slope towards totalitarianism! Why didn't I see this before?

Anyway on the private club thing, smoking is banned in them here aswell and noone seems to mind, like karma says workers still dont want to breath in smoke no matter where they work.
Also i have no idea where the smoking in houses came from as that has nothing to do with the UK law that this thread was started on(i think we all know who sent it off topic but anyway...)but if its your house you should be able to pretty much do what you want, you wana smoke or w/e then it should be allowed(and is of course) Bans are there to protect the public, and the govt. brings in these bans to protect the public at large.
But if its in homes then that has nothing to do with public, as its your house you pay the mortage you can do what you want.
