yah pennys are a waste of space, i hate them over here. Back in NZ they cut rid of 1 cents a long time ago and even got rid of 5 cents recently, 10 cents is the lowest currently.

Meh, I put them in a huge beer mug then a couple times a year I take them to the grocery store, run them through the coin counter and get a $15-$25 gift card for Amazon.com, Starbucks or where ever. Latte's are on me.

It won't be long before the copper plating is worth more than the coin itself.

Albertsons takes coins and gives you cash in exchange, but they take about a 40% profit lol. So a jar of pennies will get you a couple dollars lol. Not really worth carrying them around to me. Plus, they smell like ****.

The only reason pennies exist is due to the corporate machine, and world wild sales market.

Everything is €9.99 or €49.99 or €99.99 or €369.99 ect, because it sells better then €10,€50,€100, or €370. The one cent less then the rounded up number seems like less to the average customer.

Its €/£/$9.99? well they see the '9' so nine sticks in their head and not the 10 that it actually is. So things seem cheaper and easier to buy, but the companys still make their profit, the penny they lose is worth the more sales.

Sounds silly, but thats why homies.

In america, say you buy a game for $99.99, will they give you the 1 cent back? If you asked they'd give it to you for sure, but if you just shrug it off like most people I suppose it does make a lot of extra money for the company.

No what I mean is that fact it IS $99.99 is the point, if it was a straight $100 then it would seem dearer to people(I know it is in actuality, but the one cent cheaper seems like alot cheaper to the consumer, as its still in double digits and so on.

I always figured that was the reason, but didn't think that people would be stupid enough to fall for it. It actually makes no difference because after tax on a $9.99, it ends up being like $10.05.
