Posts: 792 | Bestbuy.com Customer Support Revealed. They Lie, and spell like 9 year olds I originally Pre-ordered GTA IV on February 15th via BESTBUY.COM because it was offered as DELIVERED on Launch Day, My past Pre-orders of Halo 3 and Mass Effect BOTH arrived on launch day. Last week I noted that there was no shipping notification so I called Customer Support on the 25th of april to change my order to an in-store pickup, The initial customer support lady told me I could not make that change because the game had already been mailed and would arrive on time. On Sunday the 27th I recieved the (Order Shipped) e-mail and was very worried. I tried to call Customer support on april 29th but their phone system kept booting me out. On May 1st I e-mailed Customer support asking why I was lied to but the customer support lady did not even respond to that question she only stated the following,
QOUTE Cut & Pasted from my email: "Hi Kristopher, I am Brenda with Best Buy Customer Care. First of all, I want to apollogize with you for all the inconveneince you have experienced with this order. Let me imform you that I checked on your order and this delivery time frame is between 04/29 and 05/05, of course we are going to try to deliver this before, since the release date was also the 29th. The United States Postal Service does already have your package in transit, and as you know we must allow 4-8 days for the delivery to be effective. I am so sorry for the delay on this order, sometimes we have to many pre orders and that is why we might be late. If you have any other question or concern, please do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to your next visit to one of our stores or to Best Buy. Thank you,BrendaBest Buy Customer Care Team"
She can't even spell properly and WTF is that line about.... "as you know it takes 4-8 days" ?
What I DO KNOW is that customer support told me on the 25th that I could not have an in-store pickup because it was already shipped but then the email confirmation tells me it actually shipped 2 days later on a damn SUNDAY when no mail of any kind ships because of it being a SUNDAY....
What I DO KNOW is that when this game finally does arrive I'm going to return it (IN-STORE) and then walk 2 blocks down the street to Wal-Mart where I will buy my copy of GTA-IV
What I DO KNOW is that I won't be ordering anything ever again on bestbuy.com

Posts: 854 | whilst not as harshly written, i tend to agree with shane. Why people preorder games online baffles me. You know shipping is going to mean the game most likely wont show up as quick as you can pick it up at the store. I mean heck theres walmarts and best buys on every corner these days !
I realize a lot of people complain about EB Games but they have always been great to me locally for pre orders. Have only pre ordered about 3 things through them (standard edition games dont need to be pre ordered anyway). They have always had the game ready for me on release day and provide a hassle free, no line up way of picking up the game !

Posts: 1,440 | No matter what game it is it can be found at a lot of stores on release day. I have only preordered a few games and that was when the 360 was launching and then you really didn't have to. Shane is right though, just go to the store man. Oh and by the way, GTA IV is awesome. WIsh you could play it. JK with you man.

I don't know is going on with them. I used to go there on tuesdays to check new movies for 15 bucks rahter then the 19 they usually sell them for, but that seems to be gone, or not advertised anymore. They do still have those 5 dollar movies every couple weeks, and sometimes they have decent movies too.
never any good deals on games though...i usually go to a small local owned place for games, and they give me a 2 dollar discount. not much, but better then the 200+ dollars i gotta spend before i got the best buy buck (or whatever it is called) in the mail. It's almost like now that compUSA is gone, they feel obligated to be the big loser jerks in the retail industry. |

Posts: 792 | Yeah they suck and I know it... It was just too tempting to have it arrive in the mail but then of course it's now 4 days later and i'm still waiting and hoping it might show up.
I also need to add that When I do visit my local BestBuy they seem to only stock the Collectors Editions of about 30% of their 360 games, so trying to pick them up in-store is risky because they may only have the $89 collectors edition. Also many of the older 360 games that are selling NEW for $20 or $30 are actually $10 higher at BestBuy.
and it's $250 spent in store to get a $5 coupon in-store credit. |

so why does everyone seem to shop Bestbuy? nobody seems to like them that much and there are better venues to spend your money for the same product. i for one buy nearly everything i own online. i'm not gonna list the countless sites that sell the same stuff for lower than retail and are still legitimate, but if you'd rather pick up your games or movies or whatever in person, just go somewhere else. on a side note, i also don't have any trouble avoiding the evil empire that is Wal-Mart. |

I don't really buy anything from best buy any more, unless it really is a best buy. i have been getting my new games, and used, from the small local shop i mentioned earlier. if best buy offers an item i know is the same place everywhere else, i'll probably pick it up there. but i know that i need to look around before buying from best buy, because, like someone stated, they usually have higher prices on like products.
i don't buy online because of 2 reasons...living in alaska your only option for shipping is usually super-over-night expensive, and that is when we aren't considered foreign. and, second, if there is an issue, i like to be able to return the item without having to ship. |

Posts: 792 | GTA:IV DID NOT ARRIVE TODAY. Which means 2 more days of waiting hoping that it will finally show on Monday May 5th. I will never spend another cent at BestBuy for the rest of my life. They have burned me too greatly to be forgotten and insult was added by the Customer Service Rep. I'm done with them, GTA will go back to the store when/if it ever arrives, and I will buy at Wal-Mart or Gamestop. F**K BestBuy. |

Posts: 920 | why didn't you just buy it from a store after it didn't arrive, then sell it when it does arrive? that's what i did, and i'm a happier man for it. even though mine came by mail a few hours after i purchased from Target. |
