Another EB games story (Joel , you got to read this one)

Hey guys,

So I decided to pop in some old 2007 podcasts in my Ipod and in one of them, Joel opens up and tells about his time when he bought Ultimate alliance for 55$ at EB games. Well, Last Friday, I go to my local EB to pick up a used copy of Virtua Fighter 5 and I bring along my copy of Army of two as a Trade in.... The guy at the counter tells me "Ill give you a full 7 $ for Army of 2" ... Wait a minute, 7$ for a "Almost new" Army of 2 game ? ... I decided to keep it but decided to look out for how much they were selling it .... 49.95$ USED .... So there giving me 7$ to sell it 50$ right after ? .... Anyways that's not the worst part ...

I finally see 1 copy of Virtua Fighter 5 ... 40 $ .... I ask the guy if this is a used copy and he says "No , I don't have any used copies , this is 40$ for a brand new game" ... So i decide to give in and he goes in the back to get me a new game. He comes back 5 minutes later with the same box I gave him, opens it up and places the disc inside .... The guy then tells me "This is the last copy we have" So I tell him "Oh you found a used copy , how much is it?" He then says "No it's new...." I look at him with a puzzled look "It's now new, You're putting the game inside the box" "No it's new, this is the copy we opened to put the game on display" "So you admit opening it?!" Just then he puts one of those plastic stickers to "Seal" the game in.... I tell him to give me the sticker instead .. I put it on my copy of Army of 2 .... "Here, my game Army of 2 is brand new ... Now you can give me a full refund for this piece of crap" he then replies "I see where this is going ... look you don't have to buy it" SO I still decide to buy it and leave the store ...

Earlier today, I go inside the same store and ask to speak to the manager ... This young punk says "I'm the assistant manager" So I politely tell him about all of this and all he can come up with is "YEah , Honestly EB Games Do rip people off sometimes ..." But he says this in front of everybody in the store .....

This 1 guy was about to buy 4 PS3 games but when he heard that he left the store ..... I saw him later in the Gamestop buying the same games , he then told me "I'm not gonna go to EB anymore , they can kiss my ass , Gamestop is Better anyways" ... If only he knew ....

Anyways , The 5 $ i would have saved if I wouldve gotten the game at a "Used price" is not worth the joy of watching EB Managers bitching about their Employer ...

Hey , at least I got some entertainement out of it ....

So to sum up - EB are greedy-ass whores? Yeah, I knew that long ago.

umm ya... and they tried to make me take a drug test for a minimum wage 10 - 15 hour a week job.... i mean wtf. i hate gamestop. Usually i hit up best buy for any new game purchase, but i still do occasionaly go to gamestop for all my used games needs.

i hate it when EB Games try to sell me a brand new game, but have to grab the game and put that sticker on the box like you explained. I agree that to me they should be charging less when they do that. If its not shrink wrapped its not new IMO.

Whenever they start to open the box when I am buying a new game I leave the store and go buy it somewhere else. Who knows where the game has been ! From what I read they actually allow their employee's to take these games home to play them for a while so that they can be familiar with what they are selling. That's all well and good, but the game is then used danmit ! When they're done they bring them back and do the old sticker on the box trick. Bastards !

ah, gamestop/eb...suck the world over. good to know it just isn't up here.

yeah, they pulled the same crap on me when i tried to sell them a fully operational xbox. they wanted to give me 15 bucks for it. they were selling the refurbs for 90 in the corner. i couldn't even buy a crappy used game for it. AND that was in store credit, not cash. i kept the machine and sold it to my friend for 50 bucks. anyway, i haven't been to that crappy place since.

i go to a local place, and they give a better credit price then EB/gamestop is capable of. i sold them my stupid GTAbore game and got 30 bucks in credit. not to shabby for a trade in game.
