Posts: 855 | Games turned into Movies So, without derailing the movies you'd like to see into games thread i decided to start this after a great post by rabbit listing some movies made from games he'd like to see. Rules are simple, post a game you'd like to see made into a movie and why, also maybe potential stars, directors, studios etc. Or post a game thats already a movie and post what they did wrong.
God of War - Epic studios - possibly vin diesal as kratos. throw jolie in as some sort of goddess.. it has potential.
also i know its in the works, but i'm really excited about the world of warcraft movie, and the gears of war movie.
and i wanted to say fallout 3 but rabbit thats yours go ahead |

Fallout 3 would make an awesome TV series IMO. There's too much to play with for a film - and I think the 2 hour timespan is too constraining for such a great IP.
With the quality of sci-fi series we're seeing now with Battlestar G, Sarah Connor Chronicles, etc - I think Fallout would find it's own in a TV series with a similiar devotion that shows the story but allows the humour to come out and has plenty of time for depth.
There's a style to Fallout that could easily translate to a quirky, unique television experience IMO.
As far as films go - a dedicated, thoughtful attempt at Dead Space would float my boat without too much trouble.
These guys have really pulled out all of the stops to create a truly unique IP that has a big future ahead of it. I've enjoyed the animated comics thus far (if you haven't downloaded them yet - GET THEM!!!) and I'm looking forward to the animated feature.
But this would certainly make a killer feature film if it was done right and they used as much live-action props as possible.

I see way too much these days people cram these epic storylines into one movie. how would the lotr, matrix, or star wars movies worked if they were all one movie. take for example children of men... a very cool plot line. however it just ended, what happened to everyone, was the baby born? did it change the world? for the first 85 percent of the movie i was generally intrigued and interested, but it was all for nothing. all of my questions were left unanswered. If fallout 3 and even other video games were made into tv series there would be no time constraint. The director could let the story unravel naturally (like in a video game) instead of force it down the audiences throat. When a movie is made about a really deep video game it always feels like the subtleties that make a game great are left behind. Im all over this idea lol.
The funny thing about dead space is its really made more like a movie than a video game. That interview eric posted got me super pumped about this game. I love cinematic games and the producer just sounded liket his was a very cinema style hell ride full of action, s tory, and fun. I'd love to see a movie, COME ON HOLLYWOOD GET OFF YOUR LAZY ASSES THE WORKS ALREADY DONE FOR YOU!
i feel like we are kind of in a comic book day and age of movies. soon i think that torch will pass to video games.
We all play these games and when we finish we are left with the same feeling like you just got done with a really good book or just saw an incredible movie. Except it took 30 hours to accomplish and you've been surrounded by the story for 30 hours of play. a lot of times games are great and the movies suck and it hink silent hill proved that this happens when the producers take a concept and completely change it all to appeal to the mass. silent hill fans are left scratching there head after that movie. all the producers have to do is reach a medium, the right amount of game nostalgia and the right amount of mass media appeal and the movie would be a hit imo.
Sorry for the rant just saw babylon ad with vin deisal and had some things to get off my mind. Movie was very entertaining but like Children of Men left me in complete confusion when the credits rolled. |

Posts: 225 | movie done wrong: anything by uwe boll.
explanation: just watch one. if you dare.
*note: do not watch one using the xbox 360 as it will actually vomit and proceed to kill itself by strangulation using its own wires.

The Dark Knight would have been the hit he needed to take off.

Posts: 2,681 | How about a movie based on bioshock. Good setting, enough material to make a decent 2 hour movie, with maybe enough to leave a cliff hanger for another. Maybe an animated movie, since the feel of hte game is similar to some of the batman and superman animated series feel. if that makes sense.
who would be good in it? get anthony hopkins as the maniac ryan (i think that is his name), and maybe someone, not to young, but good action star for the main guy. like maybe mcconahay (whatever, you know who i mean...but he may be to comedic) or brenden frasier (you know, the mummy guy...but again maybe to comedic...but that may help a dark distrubing movie?) |

Posts: 225 | i think mass effect would make for a good movie. it could go pretty deep, not to mention the cgi if done correctly would look insane. throw in john travolta, jean-claude van damme, and the guy who played ivan drago from rocky and you just might have one hell of a movie.

Posts: 421 | I propose a reboot: Resident Evil. The games are great but the movies are absolutely horrendous. Ditch the superheroesque action bull**** and return to horror. Concentrate either on the mansion (RE1) or the subsequent outbreak (RE2). Fancast follows:
Chris Redfield - Chris Evans
Leon Kennedy - Jake Gyllenhaal
Claire Redfield - Megan Fox
Jill Valentine - Chyler Leigh
Barry Burton - Viggo Mortenson or Russel Crowe
Albert Wesker - Danial Craig
And with talk of a Metal Gear Solid movie in the works, I would hope it centers on the events of Shadow Moses.
Solid Snake - Johnny Messner
Liquid Snake - David Wenham
Revolver Ocelot - ??
Meryl - Rachel Nichols
Otacon - Cillian Murphy
Campbell - Paul Eiding |

*This is obviously satirical.
