Posts: 2,344 | I was doing Hydrospeed in a white water stream, and there was a massive, high pressure rock/wave and I forgot to poition myself, so i flipped into the water over and over again, and i couldnt stop myself, so i went down into the rapids, i also lost one flipper. Somebody caought me before i went down into the whole stream though.
Oh and another time, when i was 1 or 2 years old, my grandmother was sleeping on the sofa, and i had one of the baby chair things to roll around in while you walked, and i just rolled down a concrete staircase, i think i hit my head a few times.

Posts: 52 | I was passenger in a car that got run off the road and conveniently smashed into a concrete overpass support pillar, traveling at a decent rate of speed. The car was totaled, the front end being entirely obliterated. Miraculously, I walked away from the crash, but my brother was trapped in the car, and when the paramedics arrived on the scene, they literally just gawked at the wreck and couldn't believe that anyone could have survived that. It took the firefighters (who got there first) telling them, and also pointing me out.
Just about everyone on the scene (police, firefighters, EMTs) said they couldn't believe we survived it.
Whenever I think of "near-death" type deals, this is (fortunately) the only thing I can think of in my life, because it's the only time I truly felt I could have died. Not exactly a story I like to tell, but thankfully I'm around to tell it.

Posts: 792 | Several years ago I worked nights and got there at 3am via bicycle.
I was in the bike lane not really paying attention because the streets were absolutely empty, I had only seen 2 cars in 20 minutes when I noticed a car coming along that was just not quite in it's lane and clearly speeding in excess of 60 mph. I moved up onto the sidewalk and continued riding along, Just as the car was almost even with me it started burnig rubber and did at least a 720 degree spin ending up smacking into the curb right next to me where I would have been if I were still in the bike lane. It was a drunk driver of course who just sat there dazed for a minutes then drove off. |

Posts: 198 | I was almost decapitated by a bridge once.
When I was little a garage almost crushed me.
I drove through a tornado.
I was at my friends house in the winter, and we decided to go to another friends house. While backing out, my friend got stuck in his circle. I opened up my phone to call my dad with his pickup. When I opened it, 777 was on the screen for some reason. After we got his car unstuck, I jumped in mine to drive to the other friend's house.
While driving down a two-way highway in a snowstorm, an SUV lost control on the other side, and fishtailed into my lane. At the last second it got out of the way and went into a ditch. 10ft closer and I would've either T-Boned it, or it would've flipped over me and crushed me, since my car is really small, and the SUV was high off the ground.
I was about 100 ft away from the other friends house. They were already there, in the driveway. They were excited, pointing over to where I had almost crashed. I was like "Did you see that? I almost died!"
They were like, "No, we just saw the brightest shooting star ever."
To this day, I am convinced it was an angel. The 777 was a sign.

Posts: 5 | The day I became an orphan. Car got slammed at an inter section, my mom was killed immediatley on impact and my dad succumbed to his wounds 2 days later. It was the worst time ever. I suffered a cuncussion, 3 broken ribs and a slit eye lid. My brothers are living with my grandparents. I'm living with my uncle and his fiance. Its been hard for time lately because my dads b-day was july 25, the last day I logged on. And posted. Nuff said. |

Posts: 14 | I was tree skiing (which I am very experienced at) and was clipped by a branch while I was about 5 feet in mid air. Came down awkward and hit a tree straight on.
Helmet was the only thing that saved me.

| | | when i was in plymouth with the royal marines, i got real drunk on a night out and got knocked over by a cavalier. of course i went to hospital then, i had a badly bruised arm and cuts to my arms and legs. I discharge myself from hospital and went back out on the sauce with the lads again. the following morning i woke up in the hospital again, having been knocked over a 2ND time - this time by a range rover. I couldnt even remember the 2nd time. WHAT A NIGHT LOL | |

Posts: 232 | Was hit by a Ford F-150 while I was J-walking. It clipped the side of my hip I was told and I hit my head off of the windshield and rolled up and over. Landed on the pavement behind the truck hitting my head a second time.
Suffered from 2 weeks of amnesia, a shattered sternum, shifted disc in my spine, broken arm, leg, and all of the above, and was officially pronounced dead for 3 1/2 minuted before revived in the ambulance.
Let me tell you guys something. I could care less about all the broken **** in my body when that happened. The amnesia is probably the scariest thing that any one will EVER have to go through in life. I would rather be dead than have to repeat the 2 weeks of hell I went through knowing I remember something but just can't remember it.
The whole thing from this day is just a blur to me now.

Posts: 9 | when I was abour 1 year old my mother was caught up in Swindon when the tornado of '87 went through England.
the wind managed to lift my buggy and my mother told me if it wasn't for her jumping and grabbing onto my handle who knows what may have happened
also I like to climb mountains/hills throughout England and just recently walked up Cadair Idris and came close to taking a rather deadly tumble, but that's all part of the appeal I say
