Default Health insurance woes

I just got the grim news today. My health insurance will be going up from $32 a week to $55 a week starting next year. Anyone else tired of getting reamed by insurance companies like Anthem? I personally want to see a nationwide healthcare plan. Canada has a good system, but it's too much of a beauracracy, so you pay way too much in taxes. Everyone has the right to basic healthcare.

When I'm working as a contractor I normally get an Individual High Deductible plan. It's around $70/mo. But you must pay the first $1500/yr and prescriptions are extra. There are other more expensive plans but this works for me.

My dad works for Kaiser Permanente so we get a super good health care plan. It is good because I go to the doctor a lot (heart problems) and all my check-ups are free and my medicine is $5 no matter what the regular price is.

I'm paying $55 a week for:

$500 deductible
$2000 out of pocket maximum
$10 copay on office visits
80/20 on everything else

My wife had surgery last year. All totaled between the doctor, anesthesiologist, and hospital bills, it cost around $8,000. Between the deductible and the remaining 20%, we had to shell out $2,000. Man that hurt.

I've tried. Every independant agent I've talked to has said "Wow. You're getting off easy." Then I have to say "What are you smoking?"

I would join Diamond in Canada, but have you seen what the Canadians pay in taxes for their "free healthcare"? It's outrageous.

I think im moving to Canada, medicines in America are getting really expensive and insurance is going up and up everyday. Just look at the old folks here, they work their whole life so they could retire and life a good life, but now all their money go to medicines
