so ScotRacer your saying a chevy 572cid big block is underpowered | I said they are underpowered for their size. 572 is a stupid size for an engine, thats around 9 litre. No need for anything like that capacity. European engineers could get the same power out of a car maybe half the size. |

Posts: 138 | oh come on guys can't say anything else exactly because you no that no Japanese car can ever touch an AMERICAN car. because we can do one thing to our engines and produce twice as much HP as any Japanese car.
but with a Japanese car you have to spend like 10,000 dollars and maybe get 400 HP

Posts: 575 | Bullgatti, that car is queer. Maybe as a matchbox car or something in some fantasy magazine, but to drive it? I'd rather get a moped. Next, I believe it was ohira, 120mph cruising down the thruway? Unless you live in Germany, I'm raising the flag, the BS flag.
Quick edit. Just went to urban dictionary and got the definition of "ricer"
1. ricer
(Ricer: from the latin word Ricarius meaning to suck at everything you attempt)
A person who makes unecessary modifications to their most often import car (hence the term "rice") to make it (mostly make it look) faster. The most common modifications are (but not limited to):
- Huge exhaust that serves no purpose but to make the car louder
- Large spoiler on the back that looks like something Boeing made for the 747
- Lots of after-market company stickers they don't have parts from, but must be cool
- Expensive rims that usually cost more than the car itself
- Bodykit to make the car appear lower, usually accented with chicken wire
- Clear tail lights and corner signals
- A "performace intake"- a tube that feeds cold air to their engine usually located in areas of excessive heat (behind or on top of the engine)
- Most of these riced cars (a.k.a. rice rockets or rice burners) are imports; Honda Civics, Accords, Integras, CRXs, RSXs, Del Sols Mitsubishi Eclipses, Lancers, Subaru Imprezas, however there are some domestics such as Chevrolet Caviliers, Dodge Neons, Ford Focus; small, slow, economy cars designed specifically to go slow. Please note that some Supras, Skylines, WRX's and other higher performance imports are designed to go fast, and are therfore not always considered rice. It really depends on the severity of the case.
The "ricer" attempts to make their car "performance" by adding the modifications listed above. These ricers are not confined to any one ethnic group or color, however different ethnic groups are known for certain styles.
Honda Civics with big spoilers and 4" exhaust tips are considered to be ricers.

but with a Japanese car you have to spend like 10,000 dollars and maybe get 400 HP | LMAO, you really are naive aren't you. Japanese cars are far better than American cars. The only reason American cars are at all fast (and even that is stretching it a bit) is the fact that American companies don't spend time engineering, but just stick in but stupid old tech V8 engines. They then claim it is a "sports car", which is ridiculous. Now if you Americans actually think sense about this and not just talk about the horsepower as the most important figure in a car, you would realise that Japanese cars are much better.
Take handling for instance; The current Mustang has a live rear axle (same goes for the C6 Vette) and I believe it also may have leaf springs on the rear?!?!?!?! WTF, is this the 19th Century?! And for the same money you can get an Mitsubishi Evolution, which may have less power (The UK model isn't down by much, at 330BHP) but it has active 4WD and YAW control....There is just no competition the Japanese car is far superior to the American car in almost everyway.
If you say that there are no fast Japanese cars; take the Mitsubishi Evolution FQ-400 (Built and designed by RalliArt, the company responsible for the WRC cars). It has a 2litre, 4 cylinder turbo-charged engine. It has 400 in the name because it has 400BHP, now if that isn't impressive enough....it will out-drag any American car to 60mph (0-60 in 3.5 seconds). It can corner superbly (Around a track it is no slower than a Lamborghini Murcielago). Now you may say that is made by a tuner company, but it isn't it's a official UK Evo model.
Its simple to see the American ethos when it comes to cars.... "the more power the better" and..."whats a corner?"
Yes maybe the Japanese car companies predominatly make smaller engined city cars. But that is for a reason; most of the populated areas of Japan are highly urbanised so the need for big stupid "gas guzzlers" is non-existant. But just because of that reason, don't claim that don't make good cars. In fact every Honda or Toyota currently on the market is technologically more advanced than any American car.
Also why do you hate the so called "ricers". What you are doing to your cars is customisation, why can't they do it to their cars? So what if the modifications give little in terms of performance enhancements, it is their own personnal preference. |

Posts: 770 | Nicely put Scott, I'm an American and totally agree we americans don't think about curves like I do and you do. All we think about is how fast can we go in a straight line how fast can we go on a drag strip! I like cars that handle really well not cars that are only fast in a straight line!

And that GTO, Monaro or whatever you want to call it could not beat an Evo. Yes it is a nice handling Australian car but still is no match for that crazy 4WD rocket.
Yes I said it, the GTO is not and American car. |
