That one in that picture is not an American car. It is a rebadged Holden Monaro. Sorry to kill your patriotism. And yes fuel prices are very expensive in the UK, so it is a factor but also our roads are very twisty, so big rubbish handling V8 cars are useless. The new one, which in the UK is called a Monaro VXR, may have a Vette derived engine. But that is just because of the GM parent company. It is still an Austrailian car.

You may have country roads, but they are still no comparison to the British roads. About 70% of our roads are 1, maybe 2 lane roads. For which a big V8 muscle car would be just a handful. Thats where our light weight Lotus and Caterham and Ariel cars come into their own.

It is simple. The car has to meet certain criteria to be homologated for racing use. Most series now require for a certain body shape of car; ie the BTCC requires a coupe or hatchback model for the race car to be based on. There is a one-make Lotus series and I think there is also a racing version of the Ariel Atom.

I don't mean I would be too scared to push a V8 on a back road, but they just don't handle well, and it is not their purpose.

its purpose is to have fun so that is its purpose
aston martin make v8's they tested it on top gear on some twisty roads and said it was fun to drive thats the point

Can you wuit triple posting every time scott does one post and GTR is gonna be better than Forza 2 same with Project Gotham. So far I think PGR3 is currently the best racing sim out until GTR comes out and we will have to see about Test Drive Unlimited, it maybe arcady but the series also could have changed and it could be a very very good pretty realistic game but I don't think it will be like Project Gotham Racing 3 or GTR.

Also this is not exactly the gaming section of the site se it is the General chat section so we don't have to talk about gaming here we can talk about cars which is what this thread is about crappy souped up hondas!

Where I live near DC. Kids think they are all cool because they have souped up hondas with spoilers and sweet rims and everything so what do they do? They think there cars are all that and they try to race Porsches and Ferraris and yes there cars are fast and yes they beat them in stoplight drags but when you see them in the turns the just can't compete.

Then there was a kid with a cobalt SS and said he had like 300-350 hp in it, a Cobalt SS!! Then my dad's friend has a 2006 GTI that is illegal completely has nitrous and can't even pass emmisions because of exhaust but guess how much hp?? 800!!! That thing is amazing and can handle well also because I have ridden in it. The thing is insane!

As far as underpowered V8 muscle cars I can't stand them. I would honestly rather have a lightwheight less powerful car but it handle really well and still be fast. I like Porsches currently and think they are great but out of price range that we are talking about.

Scott how much are the old Opel Speedsters? I like lotus elises and the exige alot because they achieve performance through light wheight and handle really well. I refuse to buy a GM right now though because European cars are just so much well better and don't have the cheap feel to them.

I'm pretty sure pgr3 wasn't a sim.

whatever you can put a suspension on an old muscle car and beat new cars on the track

underpowered a v8 that can make 500 horses all motor then put a supercharger on it and hit 900hp

you cant tell me a 4 cylynder sounds good

pgr3 is in no way a sim

ill post as much as i want

gtr is only race cars doesnt compare
plus its not out yet you have no clue how there gonna handle

(If you say that there are no fast Japanese cars; take the Mitsubishi Evolution FQ-400 (Built and designed by RalliArt, the company responsible for the WRC cars). It has a 2litre, 4 cylinder turbo-charged engine. It has 400 in the name because it has 400BHP, now if that isn't impressive enough....it will out-drag any American car to 60mph (0-60 in 3.5 seconds).

ya it mite be good in 0-60 but it can't handle the 1/4 thats were the american car dominates
