Posts: 575 | LOL. Wrong choice of words to describe the car, but I see where your going.
Well let me tell you when it became mainstream. There once was a movie called the fast and the furious. That featured honda civics and cars of that multitude. Now, in the movie and real life to make a 4 cyl. pump out 250 or more hp is crazy and deserves some credit. Throwing on the body kit I guess helps the aerodynamics.
But like I said I see where your coming from. Its hilarious over here. People throw on their exhaust and think their car is fast. I cant tell you how many cars around here have one color for the car, then the primer grey for the body kit. It was about 2 years ago but I actually witnessed a spoiler fall off when the kid was shutting the trunk of his pimped out ride. They throw in sound systems and when they drive buy you hear the whole outside of their car rattle. But once again, when your a teenager trying to be cool....No, thats not cool, nevermind. Yeah, people need to knock off the crap. They hang out at dunkin donuts and this kid there says his chevy cavalier has over 300 hp. LOL. Riiiiight. Why do I say that? Because he threw on a new hood, body kit, spoiler, and we asked him what was in the engine, and he said I just paid a guy to put everything in it, I dont know. LOL. You mean to tell me you gave a guy thousands of dollars and you dont even know what you spent it on? Anyways, your right, there is no point, these people could have saved up all that money they spent on their G-Unit spinners, and bought a real sports car.

Posts: 575 | I dont really see nothing wrong with the word ricers, since its refering to a car. But Jap, I would of laid off of. Just because you never know who is on the forum.

Posts: 3,184 | That type of modification is wide-spread throughout the world. What is the point of sticking 800BHP into a stupid old muscle car, and then getting about 3mpg? You can't go over 70mph. In the UK we focus on the appearance of the car. Why? Because it is cheaper, image counts for alot and street racing is very uncommon. My car is a 2.0 litre Golf Mk IV. I have only really modifed the exterior and the sound system. But I do have a racing exhaust and induction system which does make a significant difference.
And you stated about getting 250BHP out of a Civic is alot. Not particularly, as they have 197BHP standard in the UK (Well the type-R has). Some UK small engined cars can have in excess of 300BHP, without a hint of a super or turbocharger. There is a tuning company that is local to me and has many mighty fast Japanese imports. For instance they have 4 or 5 800BHP+ Skylines. Many 450BHP+ Evo's and a 1200BHP Supra. I would take a 450BHP Evo 6 over any American muscle car, anyday. Simply because the handling and traction is unbelievable, with a fair amount of power for straight sections. |

Posts: 3,184 | You have only raced in a straight line I bet. Around a REAL circuit, no muscle car could keep up with a Japanese or European, smaller engined car. And a "big block" is nothing to shout about. It is an underpowered for its size, old technology, piece of junk. Give me a modern Japanese or European engine anyday. The sweetest engine ever is a Ferrari 3.6 litre 40V V8, revving to around 9 000 rpm! |

What about the Trans-Am Series? It involved Dodge Challengers, Ford Mustang, Chevy Camaro, Plymouth Barracuda, AMC javelin, and etc.
The first race was on Sebring Raceway. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sebring_Raceway
