Posts: 1,305 | How You Started Gaming I know all of you are getting tired of me and you hate me but this is a good thread. Its interesting to know how people started gaming and make friends on how you got into the same way. This is how you can say it.
Ex:I got into FPS by playing Halo 2 on my Xbox. I got into racing by playing Toca Driver on my PS2. I don't care what the name is. You can also say what system got you into gaming also.

Posts: 969 | The first time I played a was when I was little over a 1 year old, My brother put the controler in my hand playing Mario on the NES, Ever since then I got hooked. My first game I finished all alone was Zelda at the age of 5, then came Metroid and Mario. He ****en amazed. Just kept on going, at one point I surepass his skills, I beat Zelda again on the 64 before he did, which really tick him off. And got hook playing Golden Eye and PD with the others on the street, they were like 16 or 17 and there were getting getting there ass'es handed over by a 12 year old. But now the glory is some what over with me, my nephew has starting to get the golden trigger finger.

Posts: 3,184 | OMG, what were your parents thinking giving you a games console at those sort of ages?!?!?!
I first played games when I was 12 or 13, it was Gran Turismo, at a friends house. I then got a PS2 a few years later and I have been playing on-and-off since then. |

Posts: 575 | Heck yeah Mike! The Vic 20. Then I moved on to the colecovision. I remember being very young and playing ladybug with my mom. All that was, was a pacman clone but with a lady bug. Man I miss the old days. Needless to say I have been playing video games from when nobody cared about them phase, through the "your a nerd if you play them" phase, and now amazingly the "your cool if you do play them" phase. And I do believe that I'll play them til the day I die.

Posts: 371 | For consoles, I started on the Atari...don't remember how old I was. Pong and Tank! Later moved on to the Nintendo consoles. My kid started with A PlayStation when she was about 4...now together we have a GameCube, DS, SP and a 360 in our house. Good times!

Posts: 575 | I know the question wasnt directed at me, but I think it depends on what games your talking about. They have that V-Smile thing which I think is awesome for young kids. I mean if my son/daughter can learn math, science, english and have a lot of fun doing it, I see nothing wrong with it no matter what the age. Now of course that doesnt mean I wouldnt teach them myself, nor go outside and get them some exercise too.

I do however agree with Chucksteak, to a degree. Any additional way of teaching a child is excellent in my opinion. But this however gives no reason to stop, or reduce the level of teaching a parent gives to a child. I was always taught new things by my parents, from a VERY young age. This has no doubt helped me alot and got me to where I am today. |
