Default Leave it to Hillary to make a gamer's life worse......

If made law, the Family Entertainment Protection Act would be a "a prohibition against any business for selling or renting a Mature, Adults-Only, or Ratings Pending game to a person who is younger than seventeen." It would punish violators with unspecified fines, though it did not specify if the clerk who sold the game or the retailer where said clerk worked would be punished. "This provision is not aimed at punishing retailers who act in good faith to enforce the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) system," read a statement from Clinton's office

Oh God, this old lady should go write more books, make parties, or read to little kids in schools, please. Why dont she goes and checks on her husband, oh wait!!! he was cheating on her with an inter and was impeached. Man, she should get out of our business, "the family act" what family? If they ban this games, they will have to ban music, movies, and all commericlas on TV. Please Clinton, go drink some tea and bargain shop

To be honest I'm not against it, not least because it wouldn't affect me anyway. The games have ratings for a reason, of course it depends on the person's maturity but if it stops 10 year olds getting games which aren't suitable for them at all (eg San Andreas, Killer 7) it's not such a bad idea.

Blank, I know it won't affect you, but I have played tons of M games. I am very mature. I don't curse, kill people, or try to have sex. I think Hillary is just asking to die. I mean why make a law on video games? There is a man named George Bush who isn't really doing much on Iraq, or other problems. It shows you how much the US goverment cares about important issues.

I'm sure you must have sworn or wanted sex at some time or another

Not many people mimick what they see in games, films or other media, but it does happen. Letting 8 year olds playing GTA isn't a very good idea as they can still be influenced by it. It can and has happened in the past. Most gamers are mature, like movie fans they aren't affected by what they see on the screen. But unfortunately there are people that are affected by what they see, and that's why I don't see this law to be bad, whether it's passed or not.

Besides, you could always get your mum and/or dad to get the game for you, should the law be passed.

If they ban video games, they have to ban movies, songs, and all the commercials on TV. like Pac says, she is just asking to die. Like all politician in this country, she doesnt care about family, she just wants attention

Default Go.

She's not banning, just enforcing something that was put into effect 10 years ago. Or at least trying. There is a reason for those ratings. Just like driving a car. If your not old enough, wait. Plus what is stopping parents for getting it for you. If they dont want you to get it, you dont get it. Trust me, after my age you have nothing else to look forward too, well, maybe lower car insurance.

Ok come on guys we see people die, drugs, alcohol, hookers and all that everyday on TV. There is not a TV show that doesnt show things like that, all those kids have seen something like that. So its not only video games

right but the kids arent interacting, they arent(usually) killing people
most people arent affected by video games
but then there are some people that are crazy and have lost touch with reality and are insane
then when they do something crazy they can blame it on the video game
i dont really see anything wrong with the law, it(usually) keeps games like GTA out of the hands of little kids andany parent who buys their 8 year old GTA is just plain ignorant

I totally agree with you. Problem is with young children their cognitive skills are not developed yet so can not cope with the images on some of these "M" rated games. For some kids they can't tell it is not normal behaivor that they should not copy. There has a been few Psychology studies on video games and effects on young people and the finding were not infavor of the children in the study who played the "M" rated games.

i dont really see a problem with this law, i mean they dont let people under 17 in to see r rated movies, or even buy them at most stores so why not start enforcing the same rules for video games. its not like they are trying to stop them from being made just from getting into the hands of kids that may or may not be too young to play them.

true 12 year olds dont need to be playing san andreas, but this isnt all that new, maybe its just me in cali but in order for the register to complete the transaction i have to put in the customers dob for mature games, if they are just pinning on a fine on retailers that sell M & A rated games, why do you care?

Default It really is not that BAD!

heck the law is not that bad. Yes things are changing and they want to try and protect the children. They did it to music and other things. There are ways aorund it. I mean come on the drinking age is 21 and younger kids still drink, the movies are rated and younger kids still get in.....I can go on and on.

I really would not worry about it. Heck you see alot of stuff on TV and then Cable. I mean the same is said about radio and then there is Satellite.

Just don't sweat it.....

Well if you ban games like this, you better ban live... Because if a older kid owns the game your 8 year old is playing online and they meet. The older kid may and most likely will start cursing out the other players (Halo 2). Now yes ratings mean something but some games only deserve there ratings for its killing. But yes 8 year old kids shouldn't buy games like that, but its this generation that pushes kids into it not the games. For example my friends and I were walking around outside the other day just chilling, and then we see like 11 year olds screaming curses and crap like its nothing... The generations have changed, what she thinks is from what generation she lived in where kids didn't curse or anything like this....

Oh well if she makes this law real I only need to wait till next november and then I can buy these game legally!... This ones for Hillary!
