Why is there a general Chat section???

Why is there a general chat section? To chat about general topics? and is Politics a general topic? Every other section in PX360 is dedicated to gaming topics I thought that was the Idea of having a General Chat section, so if someone wanted to talk about anything other than gaming they could.

Thats what i intended to start with my "thread about nothing" but it seems that nobody wants to talk about anything else really except us...

Yeah but we have politics all around us am tired of it and i think we should leave this site to gaming and other non political stuff.

Then just don't read or respond to it. I honestly wanted to talk about the stuff happening over in the middle east, but the thread was closed by a moderator. Why?? Its a good topic, and don't get me wrong, but doesn't "General Chat", mean to talk about anything?? I mean, what do you mean your tired of politics?? Look around at the games we play...Battlefield 2, Over G and GRAW are major political points. So, they are a little made up, but its still in games. At least games like that are based on real events, or potentialy real events.

So what your saying is...you wouldn't play an RTS, or FPS if it put you as an Isralie pilot, or soilder fighting against Lebenon?? Sad thing is, if this war wasn't happening you wouldn't think twice about it.

I can give you three good reasons why politics should not be discussed on this site,

1)
This is a gaming site; you wouldn’t go to a political debate site and start a thread about your 360 just because it has a general chat section would you?
2)
Most of the members on this site are between the ages of ten and sixteen, and most of them know nothing about politics besides the opinion of there favorite actor or musician.
3)
All talking about politics does, in the end, is start fights. If you don’t believe me just look at past threads and see why they have been closed, that’s the reason the mods close that kind of thread as soon as they see them.

I don’t understand why you people want to talk about politics here anyway. I know if I wanted to talk politics this is probably the last site I would chose to do it on.

dont express your opinons or views here, i feel that u should talk about this stuff in real life as in away from your computer desk. talk to friends family ,co workers but not 10 year old kids on this site.

I dont get how there can even be a debate over whether or not we can talk about politics. First off, all the people on here complaining and whining about how you don think its appropriate on a 360 site, dont read it, dont post in it, its not for you. Why care if we have a thread that we want to express our opinions just because you dont have anything intelligent to say. Are you mad because you dont understand politics? Are there not many forms of politics in the games we play? Doesnt politics effect the way we play games in general?(look at GTA SA). Politics directly pertains to gaming and as a communtity we should be able to start any thread we want under the general chat section. Youre telling me we shouldnt form a political chat thread, but a thread about shaving which has even less about gaming involved was created, replyed in, and many people viewed it. C'mon people, make some sense!

Discussion about politics is fine but as Kh0rne said it will usually end up as an arguement and the old USA thinks they rule the world thing will start getting thrown out there by people who dont honestly understand whats really going on. So maybe, on this site, its not a good idea.

We have debated adding a politics thread since before you were born on this site, Easy D.

Here's the deal, politics is kinda like religion and sports; it is nearly impossible to change people's opinions and more often the end result is anger.

Having said that, stay tuned. Your wish may be granted. But a cordial caveat: it will be heavily moderated.

P.S. If you really think you can talk about anything in General Chat, see how far you'll get with porn...

1) I can see what youre saying KHORNE but to use your argument you would have to ban general chat. All of which is not related to gaming.

2) There are also a lot of gamers on here in a higher age bracket and even some in the younger age bracket still need to learn to discuss politics and as Molneze and Enola said its your choice to respond to posts if youre not interested in politics dont reply.

3) Cant argue with that. But mods can delete posts and give warnings at thier discression rather than completely close down a good thread.

a) The internet wasnt even a twinkle in uncle bills eye when I was born.

b) Thank you. Thats all I ask. I understand that politics, religion and sport can breed volitile situations and it will need to be heavily modified. But hopefully the people that are mature enough to discuss these topics are mature enough to view things on a broader scale without getting angry. (much)

c) I'm well aware of whats socially acceptable so you dont have to remind me that porn doesnt fall into the catagory of General Chat.

Our opinions and views are what makes us human. And helps us mature and to a certain extent helps us differentiate between right and wrong. O.k. I'm going a little political now but its not off topic. The people of North Korea have had that privalage taken away from them, opinions play a major part in democracy so unlike some people in this world opinions, are my right not my privalage. So when someone takes away your right to forming your own opinion they take away your Humanity and the democracy that our forefathers fought so hard to attain, and what people like Molneze are fighting to keep hold of. I could go on forever about the consequnces of taking away opinion but i've got work to do.

I know im not going to participate in this section(if it is created) but there is no way anyone can keep the arguments from reaching people that want nothing to do with them.
