as of now it is...
360-7,057,664
ps3-252,915
wii-418,779
synopsis:
as of early last evening, 360 had sold 6,950,000. that's an increase of 100k in one day.
ps3 is having major supply shortages, numbers will increase minimally.
wii is on pace to break 1 million in sales by the end of tomorrow.

Posts: 3,184 | So it begins.
The 360 will remain market leader until at least early '08 in my opinion as there are so many system sellers coming next year (Halo 3, Halo wars [maybe], Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, Forza 2, GTR but to name a few). If the PS3 is too succeed, it really must get it's killer games out or there are no reasons to spend such a bigger amount (and limited stock is a worry) on a console when most games will (and be better) on Xbox 360.
The Wii is looking good, but it's a different targetted audience so it's not a threat, per se. |

Posts: 2,000 | As long as Nintendo ships out a sufficient amout of wii's. Also, are all 3 console sales #'s worldwide? At the rate the 360 is going, the should hit 10 million (or at least very close) by the end of this year or end of Jan. |

Posts: 843 | yes these are worldwide figures for sales. their estimates have been close or dead on for the past year so i would consider this a reliable source.

I really think they should have waited til the spring to release the PS3 (if they had, they could have had 1million units for launch) but they couldn't "lose another holiday to the 360 and now the wii. Risks. That's part of the business. |

And there's no way that they would have released 250,000-odd PS3s at launch in both territories, so really it hasn't completely sold to it's full potential, if those stats are to be believed.

Posts: 782 | with ps3's shortage and lack of decent titles its gonna be sitting in 3rd for a long time, when ps3 released at my store maybe 2 out of the 12 people actually bought a game or any accessories, why? cause none of them really wanted the system they were just looking to rake a profit. wii on the other hand we ran out of wiimotes and nunchucks halfway through the line and nearly everyone bought zelda, people were still picking up games even though they were not able to pick up a wii. Nintendo may be the old dog in the race but they certainly know how to handle a system release better than their sony cousins, and they are definatly going to see the profit from it, hell, the e-bay sellers are making more money than sony off of their own profit. i can't help but laugh and smile lol |

Posts: 1,875 | The PS3 sales still haven't eclipsed 300,000 units sold (as of today), and I know there aren't that many on eBay waiting to be sold, so I am inclined to believe that Sony did not, in fact, shipped 400,000 consoles to the US. If they did not, then I will be very amazed if they get 1,000,000 out by Xmas.
Looking at the other end of the spectrum, if they did get 1 million out by Xmas, that'd be a $250 million dollar deficit... so it's kinda catch-22 for Sony right now.
The Wii should break a million this week, Zelda aside, the other games are kinda "meh" right now. |

Posts: 2,000 | You also have to keep in my of other auction (yahoo auction) and classified sites (craigslist, etc). I still doubt that they shipped 400,00. It's more 200,00 to 250,000. |
