I read the long 6 page review. For the most part, I agree with their opinion (or rather, his opinion) on the subject. Aside from having Blu-Ray, not much of a reason to get the PS3.

And the launch was atrocious. Not only were the console numbers inflated, but the overall effect was quite negative.

This is just a review of the PS3 launch but yeah, it summarises the console very well; it's a good console just not a great one.

Hummm. I guess time will tell, but at first glance I really don't see what's so big about it...Don't understand why so many people rushed out to get one now...

Does this really matter? its based on launch games. the xbox 360 didnt have a good launch either, with games like perfect dark and kameo underachieving when everyone though they would be good. how about you rate the PS3 after about a year its been out.

i think we can all agree that the wii had the best launch

and again i say who gives a ****, the dreamcast had a better launch then the PS3 and the 360, but its not here anymore either. a launch does not make or break a console, its the games that come after that. so like i said earlier, wait till after a year and then say which is better because obviously the 360 is better right now because the PS3 just came out DUH!

The most significant problem with the PS3 and its launch is the simple fact that there are none out there. I don't honestly believe the games available are any worse than what could be found on the Xbox 360 (besides the above-average CoD 2 port and PGR3). We can probably equal-out this year's Call of Duty with the one last year, and the decent (but no "killer app") Resistance just about matches PGR3's quality.

Blu-ray is a big deal, however. The visuals are extremely impressive, and considering the fact that Samsung's stand alone player retails for around $1,000, its inclusion in the PS3 makes it quite the bargain.

The PS3 is an investment. With that said, there's no reason to buy it now, since the competition from Microsoft is producing better games (GoW), while the Wii tries some completely refreshing stuff (motion sensor).

Plus, the PS3 I tested locked up a few times. Beware the faulty launch console...

it was pretty in-depth but i had to laugh when it talked about the launch and how the ps3 just sort of "showed up"

we'll see if they have 100+ games for 2007. MS said something around the same thing, and unless you are counting the arcade games and demos, i still dont think we are there yet. Anyone keeping count?

According to the xbox 360 commercial, their are over 120 360 HD games available. (it doesn't mention if it includes the xbla games or not. I'm going to check gamestop.com for a list.

EDIT: I went to one game store website and I counted about 86 (ive or take). there are a few more being released this month so it'll be about 90.

they r definatly keeping the XBL games list included in that since some of them like (cough cough) Hexic are HD... hehe

Ive said it a hundred time the PS3 is a big disapointment and I was thinking of getting one. I dont think I'll be wasting away 600$ now though.
