Question Need questions answered!

Hey guys,
Well, I will b getting my 360 console in a couple of days time and a friend who has it told me that I wud need a HDTV to maximize the performance of the 360. Ok, here's the thing. I doubt my tv is HD but it does have RGB video in ports. How would it perform on a normal tv set? When I bought the tele, the sales person did tell me that my tele is 100mhz, normal sets are only 50mhz! Does that make any difference?
Pls get back to me ASAP as I will be getting my 360 in abt 2 days.
shakz2020@gmail.com is where I can be reached!
Thank you

Heh, you are still better off getting an HDtv, because it has to do with resolutions, and if your TV doesn't get a 720p resolution, you will be missing out. Granted, if you cannot afford one, then your TV will be fine for the time being.

I know that there are those who need the best looking TVs, but if you are simply looking for great gaming, the 360 is a worthy purchase even on a regular old TV.

Well, I kinda just did buy the tv abt 2 years ago maybe! Spent a good 5 grand on it. Its a 34" SOny trinitron DRC-MF. Im really not sure if its HIGH DEF cuz there is a button on the remote that says HI-FINE picture quality. And GAME MODE. Also tru surround. Im surely gona get a 360 but I also want to maximize the performance. I just think it wud b a waste of money to get another large screen tele. Is my tele not a HDTV? I have NO IDEA!

I have a pretty old std def tv and the games look great. The only problem with not having HD is some games have small in game maps, signs, etc and they can be a little harder to read without the HD. I just finished building up the sound portion of the room and just can't afford the set yet.........

The unit will still render all the graphics, and have the shading and whatnot. It just won't be as crisp and clear on a standard def. HD refers to the resolution ability of the tv, so your tv, running at 100 mhz (whatever that means) probably won't have much of a better picture then a standard tv. However, component and s-video do tighten the picture up a bit even on standard def tvs, i noticed that back on the gamecube and ps2 when i switched to an s-video. if you have component inputs, use 'em!

As the others have said a HD display will maximize the 360. But it is in no way required to enjoy the 360. Many people play on a standard def TV. But for a variety of reasons (360 only being one) I would plan on your next set being HD. Good luck~

If you bought your TV two or more years ago, i would say that it is NOT HD ready. You would definitely benefit from a HDTV, but it's not necessary. I sometimes play mine on a 20" Sharp flatscreen (thin one) that cost me £700 about three years ago. I was then lucky enough to buy a big ass 42" HDTV with cinema speakers. It. Is. Awesome. But you can get them really cheap now. Mine cost £1600. You can buy the same one now for about £300-400 cheaper. You can also pick up cheaper brands at really good prices
