Posts: 120 | Wii games I bought my 8 yr old a Wii for his birthday in september. Some of the games are pretty cool but I'm defintely 120% more into my 360. But it is really fun for the younger chaps. Anyway I was wondering if anybody might have a couple of good game ideas for somone in that age bracket? Also I was curious for some input on Zelda. I've never played any of the series but since we do own a Wii now is it as good as I have heard? Picked up Resident Evil 4 while my 360 was off getting repaired. If $ were no boundries its worth buying for that 1 title awesome game. By the way my son still plays the 360 slightly more. |

Anyway i have the Wii. I have played TP. Honestly i think it would be better to wait for the Okami port.
I have one warning. Don't buy Zack & Wiki just for the kid. It can be pretty hard even for experienced gamers. It's a great way to spend 40$ though.
Uhm let's see. The best titles i can think of that anyone should be able to play, and enjoy are SMP,Eledees, and SMG.
What else? I don't really know how child friendly MP3 is. It wasn't my main priority when i was playing it. Although i it seems like it has a pretty wide appeal (FPS gamers, and metroid fans)
Lego Star wars: The compelete saga is also worth checking out.

Posts: 176 | Wednesday or Thursday you've got MOH Heroes 2 for the Wii. It's the only Wii shooter you should even consider buying. 32 player online, completely customizable controls. It's not going to compare to a Live! experience, but it's the best Wii's got.
Galaxy and Prime 3 both look good. Zdub has people raving about it, but who knows.

But no one who worked on Vanguard worked on Heroes, this is a completely different dev team (EA Canada Team Fusion). They were a little dev team making their console debut, and apparently they figured out wii FPS controls better than Nintendo (Retro) did. What makes it better than Vanguard are a) features and b) controls. It's the most fully featured online experience on Wii to date. And it's controls can be fully configured allowing you to play as fast and furious as you dare.
The actual content of the game is generic WWII stuff. Nothing to get excited about. But how it feels to play the game is completely different. And you can play it against 31 other people on EA's network (bypassing the awful Nintendo online system).

It's not like it's just a narrow minded opinion | You gotta admit, the Wii offers nothing to hardcore gamers, which repesents the largest segment of the gaming public. No HD, little if any online, little if any storage, but above all else the fact that Nintendo no longer certifies games means the vast majority of Wii titles are just horrible. There is just no incentive for gamers to buy the system, even if it is half the price of a PS3. http://forums.planetxbox360.com/alte...-all-time.html

I won't count Ghost Squad, since I'm not really into rails shooters, but surely someone will bring something like mechwarrior into the Wii FPS fold with that mechanism.
Motions are pretty gimicky for the moment, but they have hardcore potential too. You could gradiate grenade throw distance based on the amount of force you throw with--turning them into a much more precision weapon than other systems can. Once developers get over the novelty and the 'need' to punch in some motion controls to replace a perfectly good button, there are mechanics that could be exploited for an improved experience.
