so does the 40gig run any ps2 games since it is missing that engine? not that it matters to much, running old games on the new machine, as i found with the 360. but i did hang on to some original xbox games (republic commando), and there are a few ps2 games i would like to hang on to as well. | |

nah you can't but at the moment you can download a few ps1 games like the arcade, hopefully they'll start adding ps2 games also, at the moment i have theme hospital and CTR, great retro games to play

It may be limited but all the marquee PS2 games should run on the PS3. | |

I haven't touched a single ps2 game since i've had my ps3 so for me it's not really a problem besides you don't go and buy a hi-def console and then play a last gen game. | |

I could be wrong since its not something I'm overly concerned with and have not investigated.

Yes you are correct, the 40GB does not support PS2 games although the 80GB does. I didn't know and quite frankly, it's kind of ****ed up especially if you can't find an 80GB model and settle for the 40 as some of my friends recently have. | |
