Default MS Slams PS3 GTA IV five minute install time

Quote:
Just got this from Microsoft PR:

With the OXM review hitting streets today, and your own preview impressions which are looking great, hopefully you’ll all be a bit wiser as to the ins and outs of GTA IV now.

I’m sure you’ve all seen the chatter from the 1up GTA IV Preview on the PS3 install time….just a few thoughts on what you could do in this time if you were actually playing the 360 version from the moment you insert the disc….

· Steal your first dozen or so cars and test out the improved vehicle handling?

· Check out the cool features on your mobile phone?

· Rack up a 5 Star Wanted Rating?

· Have a blast of your first MP game on Xbox LIVE?

· Ditch the tracksuit chic and buy some new clothes?

· Unlock your first GTA IV Achievement and boost your Gamerscore?

….Or just start downloading a film from Xbox LIVE Video Store to watch later – check out the latest batch of arrivals this weekend!

5 minutes is tolerable, but I get annoyed with all the PS3 installs. A gb here, a gb there...it adds up.

The Xbox 360 has an optional install on GTA IV. It just shows that the BD drive in the PS3 really is lacking and can't read fast enough to put to RAM.

Install times don't bother me in the slightest. As an old skool PC gamer - we are used to it already.

You missed RRoD off that list.

It just goes to show that the ps3 really isn't up to much i've owned mine since Feb 08 and i've spent more time downloading and installing updates than i have playing the games. For me i think the ps 3 is a complete let down and i'm not saying that as fanboy of ms otherwise i wouldn't of bought one in the first place.

The load times are still going to suck. It's a BD curse.

are you asking HOW to get it to RROD? just overheat the mfer. wrap it in a towl, stick it in a small box, and turn a hairdryer on it. i'm sure something inside will melt.
