Posts: 1,144 | I still don't see why people are saying the PS3 has no chance against the 360, of course it does! I know alot of people that would rather hold back for the PS3 than buy a 360. This is for a variety of reasons, the main being Sony's blatant bull**** about how powerful the console will be. An awful lot of people never look into the actual specs of a console, they'll just believe what Sony say. They also think that the PS3 will have more exclusives - they may be right later down the line, but last time I checked the 360 had more. But the real reason it'll sell is the same reason the PSP has sold like hotcakes in the UK - the name. Playsatation is a household name over here, and many people associate it with the likes of FIFA, Grand Theft Auto and Need for Speed (many unaware that they are available on other systems). If Microsoft could get GTA as an exclusive franchise, however, they may get this generation in the bag as GTA is very popular.

Posts: 120 | ps3 will beat xbox360 if it 1).keeps its games $60 or less 2). Rockster comes out with Grand Theft Auto 4 in 2006 3). will be released in Europe and North America (and of course Japan) by summer 2006 4). has a well planned out on-line system 5). Has many features (like record music, video chat, turn console on & off with control, etc...) like the Xbox360 6). price it for $400 or less and hopefully with a harddrive 7). of course make great games 8). and not have that problem that a lot of people in these forums say that "oh playstation 3's bandwith is to low..." which i dont if it's true & i dont think a company like Sony would trap itself into that stupidly anyway. Keep in mind all 8 are very possible. |

Posts: 341 | MS may not need to get GTA as an exclusive. Simply start a new franchise.
I got this from Ign.com
Xbox 360 Causes Riots
Grand Theft Auto staffers reported to be working on next generation title.
by Anoop Gantayat
September 27, 2005 - One of the latest rumors out of Japan seems like it will actually cause more of a splash in America. According to a few sources, former Grand Theft Atuo staffers are at work on a new game for the Xbox 360called "Riot Act." This title will apparently be unveiled in the debut issue of Famitsu Xbox 360, which is set to hit shops on Friday.
That's all the info we have at this point, but mere word of a game backed by GTA talent on powerful next gen hardware is enough to make the maguro just jump right off our plates. Stay tuned for more, hopefully later this week. |

It probally will beat the 360 unless if we convert over 1/2 of the PS fanboys and gather the flocks of casual gamers. FIFA? I don't think FIFA is popular in the US or at least where I live. MS dosen't need GTA to win the "console war" as people say. Honestly I think GTA is overrated. It is only so fun beating up pedestrians and killing cops for so much time. Playstation is a household name. Microsoft is also a hosehold name and Xbox is slowly becoming a hosehold name as well. All the other franchises NFS is on the 360 for launch I think, so is FIFA. It will be close between Sony and MS. I haven't counted Nintendo out either. For all we know they could wipe out PS3 and Xbox 360 with the Revolution for all we know. Your right on no one really checks the specs of each console. It is the games that really matter. |

In the UK, FIFA is just as popular (or maybe even more popular) as Madden is in the USA. Year-in-year-out, FIFA is always among the best-selling titles.
As for GTA, I also find it overrated. HIGHLY overrated, in fact. But there are millions who don't think that.

Posts: 136 | Playstation 3 would definately beat Microsoft if it had an earlier release date. In Australia xbox 360 is being released in march next year(2006) so maybe in Australia ps3 will be released before the 360 and beat microsoft in the Australia games market

What makes you think the 360 stands a chance against the PS3? I'd say they have a better standing this generation than last. But really, when you think about it. Sony has the biggest fanbase, some of the best licenses and the most powerful console (you can argue about processors, but at the end of the day, the PS3 has been confirmed as the more powerful of the two. It's a lost cause) + their marketing campaigns are genius (don't bring up the Christ thing, i've already seen it) |

Well what do you expect! It is a 360 prominant site which dose not take a genious (sp) to work that out now does it!
But I can't see microsoft being the top dog with the next set of consoles due to the pure fanbase of sony.

Posts: 2,248 | We will have to wait and see I don't think M$ will dominate this generation, but I can see them coming out on top for the next generation after the 360, you all have to remember even Sony was the underdog at one time in consoles and they made it to the top. Plus we have to factor in also that Sony is having financial trouble right now and the company is restructuring.
So that works in M$ favor. That's just my 2 cents .

Posts: 1,875 | Bionic- The Cell processor is more powerful, but will not be running at its peak efficiency. So, in the end, it'll be a wash between the two consoles. But, since the Xbox has a better GPU, it may the edge. This has been discussed to death already, so feel free to look it up.
And yes, this is planetxbox360, not PS3land or unbiased forum land. So the likelyhood of seeing a 360 supporter here is higher. |

But there are millions who don't think that. | Dispite what you may believe soccer has become a VERY popular sport here in the US (the fact that we have a succesfull national team probbablly has nothing to do with this...), however the fact that this title is shared by both companies why it was brought up is beyond me.
And as far as gta is concerned, as overated as it is, imagine if it was an exclusive xbox title, how many ps2's were sold soley for the purpose of playing those titles?? but if M$ is creating their own vrsion sony could be in for an even larger headache |

Posts: 1,875 | Reverting back the grill, that would be a really cool feature.
Look at it from this point. Your mom (or wife, whatever) comes home and you're sitting infront of the TV, playing your pre-rendered Killzone 2 game. You're mom goes ape `cuz you haven't done anything, yadda, yadda, yadda. Then you tell her that you made her dinner, and you open up the Cell grill which is occupanied with the smell of supper. Suddenly, she forgives all trespasses and you continue about your gaming. It isn't all about the games.
I think Sony has a winner with the grill feature. |
