My original point stands: Your argument wins exclusively on films that were filmed in 65/70 mm. I'll also conceded that a DVD that was remastered 10 years ago has nothing on a Blu-Ray disc that was remastered this year...but that doesn't mean that film companies couldn't get the same results on a DVD if they chose to remaster with today's technology - which they won't because they want to push blu-ray.
Don't know if you like older films, Shane - but you should definitely get your hands on either 2001 or Lawrence of Arabia.

Remember - Sony wants to sell Blu-Ray, not DVD. Quote: |

| Indeed it will - that's the 70mm shining through: basically double the normal film resolution. Far and Away looks damn good as well - although you can take it or leave it (but I did actually like the film).

It may be hard for your fathead to comprehend but give it a go.

charlie whats wrong with 360 as a dvd player? I never had a problem with it. I can't imagine there being much noticable difference between a DVD playing on a 360 vs a PS3, not that i want to compare the two, but this thread like most has been taken over by the inevitable console war anyway :P

| | | I cant explain it nufan it just looks bad compared to a normal dvd player or PS3.
Plus lets not forget the 360 is unsuitable as a DVD player in a small living space, as it sounds like a moped.

Posts: 828 | Cartoons look sweet in HD.
Just watching the Ice Ace 2 Trailer in 720p was amazing.
I own Shrek 3 on HD DVD and its crispness is magnificent.
I never use the Xbox 360 as a DVD player cause I have like 3 anyway around the house. And where my 360 is connected to my TV, it also has a DVD player connected there as well, so no need to use 360 for that.
Plus its noisy too.

(i really hope the drives in the 360 are not toshiba) |

Posts: 853 | yeah ive had my 360 for 2 years and its quiet, must be just the european 360s that are noisy i guess :P Use it for DVDs all the times and plays perfectly. Would hate to have a stand alone DVD player taking up room in my cabinet with a 360 sitting there that can play them perfectly well.

Posts: 1,298 | I used to use my 360 for dvd's and i found it would run quieter than it would playing a game so really when watching a movie it wouldn't make any noise which was great. |
