Graphics DO make games good, granted they are not the only aspect but they play a large part in what makes a game a masterpiece. That's the typical "Gameplay before Graphics" argument that a Nintendo fan uses when someone says their games look like crap.
Most 360 and PS3 games 3rd party wise, wipe the floor with the Wii's 1st party titles, which is pathetic. | there is a pretty distinct difference between playing with someone online and people that are in the same room as you. that sounds like social interaction.
graphics HELP make a game good. i equate them to a movie with really good special effects, but bad story, and we all know plenty of movies like that. star wars 1-3 are good examples of good effects but no story. i think the same can be said for games.
i also think many other people could make the 'gameplay before graphics argument', not just 'nintendo fanboys.'
of course you will think the wii titles are crap. you hate the wii. why would you concede any of them are good? it might debunk some of your arguments. |

Posts: 436 | Trust me you dont want a wii 99% of the games on it are ****. Keep your money and buy something you might actually use.
But if you do end up buying a wii the only good games for it are: Zelda, Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime and Super Smash Bros Brawl.

I'm gonna save my money for now. But on another note, i think graphics are an aspect to making a game good, but it is not impossible to have a great game with bad graphics. For instance warcraft 3 is still an amazing game, yet the graphics are awful for 2008. When judging games for ps3 and xbox360 we always look at graphics because we know the kinda graphics that ps3 and xbox360 can produce, but to me the wii is not the same as those two systems and should be looked at differently. I would judge a game more by addictivness. |

Posts: 828 | Ok, after now seeing E3, I can confirm there is no reason to buy a Wii now, at least not in the next 12 months. Wait till E3 09 now.
Seriously, no hardcore games, no voice solution (only some crap for animal crossing), no kid icarus, no hard drive storage solution. Cmon Nintendo!
Put the money towards a 60GB Xb 360 model instead!

Clearly the Wii has power issues, but it also has the chance to become the best console for games that have traditionally been best on the PC, like strategy, simulations, and, I'll try to say this last one over the guffaws of your fellow board mates, FPS. It can't compete on graphics, but a gamepad can't compete with the Wii on interface either.
If the Wii can ever get past its image problem, there's tons of room for high quality, great games.
My recommendation is to wait till 2009 and re-evaluate based on what's available then. What's in the queue right now is 1000 times better that what was coming this time last year. If that pattern repeats, it might be worth it in 09.
