Posts: 235 | Revolution Controller - First Impression After seeing the pics and reading the info, what are ur first impressions is this going to be the next big thing in consoles or just trying to make life difficult.
And before u say anything i no that nobody has tryed it yet but is this a turn off for potential REV buyers.
I have to say i think this has put me off buying a REV - i didnt like the GC controllers and i dont see me likeing this 1. I also prefer the use of multiple analogue sticks (and not the PS ones, i like feedback). I think nintendo are trying a bit to hard (im gutted i was hopeing for something special but this is a bit to much)

Posts: 1,875 | My first thought was "Great, just what I need- another friggin' remote to lose!" But I have had a revelation, so to speak: It is the future of gaming. This contradicts my other post in some regards, but allow me to extrapolate a little on my findings. For driving and FPS games, this controller will be the snizz-buscuit to own. You already use the left analog stick for character directions, i.e., go forward, backward, etc. So they made a left analog stick with a trigger for that purpose to attach via a cord to the remote-like controller. In your right hand is your gun that you point, at the TV, and shoot. It'll be quicker than "pushing" an analog stick and even more efficient than a keyboard and mouse. I bet M$ and $ony develop something similar in the near future.
The drawback, IMO, is the concept design. They should have taken a standard controller, split it in two, and used that instead. I would even make it so that you could put the controller back together for different games that do not need a "wand", so to speak.
At any rate, I will not be buying the REv. anytime soon. This is not a prejusdice against the controller, but rather, the system design and lack of 3rd party support. Mario can wait. |

The Rev. is all about brand new experiances and breaking new ground. Imagine the possibilities of what you CAN do.

Posts: 364 | innovation is one thing...but the jury is still VERY MUCH out....I just can't imagine a room full of my friends swinging and punching the air. Again Nintendo brings us something that I just don't see catching on...unless they give us a handful of killer apps...and believe me after the current generation, THEY'LL NEED IT. I don't get Nintendo, while Sony and Microsoft are trying to give us new gaming experiences through software and online support...Nintendo tries to reinvent Mario for the 16th time,...and give us technology that reminds me of a fishing controller with a tv remote look. Unless this lil thing plugs into a dual stick peripheral they can keep it. I am happy they atleast tried...I mean what did Sony do...basically gave us an updated Sidewinder controller...no innovation. |

Posts: 75 | I believe Nintendo are the only ones who can really use what they innovate, i.e. Nintendogs. I do think Nintendo will have less 3rd party exclusives compared to the Xbox 360 and/or PlayStation 3. The idea of waving the controller around is as silly as blowing on the Dual Screen, any Eye Toy concept like those and the Eye Toy itself should be kept as an option and not a neccesity for the console or device. Definetly a turn off for me is the use of a wireless controller only to have to plug in a wired part for a joystick. That's my two cents.

Posts: 364 | I think you are missing his point...lol. Yes we allllll know it is wireless from the system, I agree it is abit silly looking with a wired add on part. Will each of these upgrades to the initial controller be sold seperate? What other add ons will Nintendo create? It seems to be quite a novelty if nothing else...but for me creates more questions |

Posts: 806 | I think it could make FPS's a bit easier in the sence it's more based on your own dexterity and skill to aim, however...
At the same time you need a decent TV (at least up to date and big) to have a better chance. Plus... If you're tired to begin with it may not be all much of an advantage. Especially if you just got home from work, wanna get drunk and play some shooters online.
There's a plus and minus to everything though. I'm not sayin the analog or mouse are perfect either. Just depends on the situation I guess.
Also I would think without a *BIG* screen TV it would be much harder to have a 4 player FPS game. Can you imagine trying to aim that thing accurately in a small quarter of the screen the whole time(with a smaller TV)? not gonna happen. |
