GT:5 Prologue update

i downloaded the game today, but it wants me to update which is fine with me but when i try to update it says "preparing download" for ages then it goes to "downloading" for a few second and then cancels and says there was an error and the download failed. can anyone help?

I never had any issues downloading updates, I do have disc version though.

Id say google or PS3forums are your friend alex, Im sure theres an explanation and fix.

Oh and contrary to what people say, this game is meant for 1080i alex.

On 720p it has jaggies galore. on 1080i it looks photorealistic. depending on telly it may be 'faster' on 720p due to FPS and such but Id defo use 1080i on your telly.

its only game I have ever played on 1080i over 720p and it was the right choice.

yeah it's jaggy on my tv, like most ps3 games for some reason, i'm gonna try it on the 1080p downstairs and see how it looks

edit: ok i'm getting pissed off now, and this seems to be the norm for ps3 game updates, i finally got it to work and it got to about 20% and failed, the next time it got to about 90% which took a long ****ing while and then it failed again, and they always start from the very beginning each damn time, it's getting old now. ps3 need to sort this **** out!

it just did it again! this time it downloaded pretty quick, got past half way and ****ing failed again!!! what is the great difficulty in downloading a damn update?! this it about the 9th or 10th try so far

Could be your connection alex, Id say its your NAT settings.

My mate has PS3 with Eircom Broadband and hes always having issues, they have strict NATs and fook things up. It was the same for him when he tried hosting/playing COD2 & COD4 on XBL.

And like I said, play it on 1080i on your telly not 720p.

it finally worked, i'm playing in 1080i, it's still jaggy but a lot better than 720p, still wanna try it out downstairs

edit: shane, got any tips on how to beat that c class time trial with that POS suzuki?

the game looks crazy good in 1080i. havent had any problems downloading updates. could be nat settings like shane said. but either way you got it working so watever.

Mine on 1080i is smooth as a babys arse.

and I hated that race lol. make sure your not using to much aids alex, they make it very hard to lose control but pull back your max speed/power.

You will get used to game after while, Im no race expert forza pretty much being my first sim/proper racing game(and i was pap at that) but you get used to it after while. its not NFS your playing here

i'm loving this game but it's so difficult, i've been stuck with bronze on that race for ages but now i've given up. it's like driving some ****ty electric go cart around the track lol, no wonder it only cost 14,000 credits

the game is still stupidly fun though, and if there weren't a few courses that weren't damn near impossible there would be little point in playing, i'm gonna leave that one until i'm a bit better at the game and then come back to it, at the moment it's just annoying the hell outta me lol

Doesn't sound like GT5 is going to be the 1080p monster game it was proclaimed to be, really 1080i is crap, 720p is much nicer indeed, and it cant even run on that.

At least Forza 2 didn't die at 720p.

I gameflyed it (sorta by accident) i'm not a racing sim fan at all. in fact i'm kinda clueless to them and have only played one game even close to a racing sim and that was sega gt for xbox. if its not a racing sim then ****. i mean honestly i don't even know. either way this game is really fun and addicting. in fact if it was not for my purchase of oblivion goty edition yesterday i dunno if i'd even have put it down for a few. Can't wait for the full game, can't wait for the next xbox counterpart. BRING IT ON!

GT5:P is one of the best looking games Ive ever played, And I have a pretty powerfull PC.

It is native 1080P so of course there will be some aliasing at 720p.

Its just for poor joes who only have 720p/1080i tellys, its better to play it on 1080i to get closer to what it was made it look like.

You always had the longest, most thoughtfull Tech posts, that even I respected. But you have just turned into a massive MS fanboy, it sickens me.

I haven't been able to do the update either and i've had the game since release i've tried like 10 times a day and it just won't, yet other game downloads are fine. wtf is the problem?

Forza 2 didn't die at 720p because it had graphics a five year old could render with an etch-a-sketch.
