Default Great News For The 360

Latest news on a PS3 Delay -

Quote:
Yesterday rumors arose from the BBC reporting that the Sony Playstation 3 could be delayed until late 2007. Obviously this is just a rumour and not a single word should be taken seriously right now. A former employee from GameStop has produced a statement about the PS3, which also states that it will not be released until the end of 07.

The former employee stated -

"I worked for GameStop over the summer, and this came up during the Madden 2005 [2006?] Release a few months back, and “confirmed” by our District Manager, I’m not entirely sure how true it is, but if you do some research on it, here’s what you’d be looking for:

The PS3 is delayed until 2007, the decision for this came about through the failure of the initial hardware the PS3 Development Team created. Apparently, 300 PS3 Units were created and sent to various software developers to begin creating games for the new system. However, design flaws in the PS3 (Specifically, not enough coolant) caused the systems to overheat and meltdown after moderate use by the developers.

According to my DM (District Manager), Sony went and fired the entirety of the PS3 Development Team for this flaw. In short, from what I’ve heard, if Sony gained anything from this experience, it’s minor technical knowledge on what the PS3 can handle, but for the most part they were sent to square one."

If the above statement is true this could mean a possible two year difference between the PS3 and the Xbox 360. With such a long delay you have to wonder what Sony will do to make its loyal fans wait out and not buy another system in the meantime. But don’t forget that at this time it is only speculation, but we'll keep you updated on the topic.

Figures, noholes in the darn thing. If true, the ps3 just got more expensive. All that developement, plus developing the new hardware. looks like an 800 dollar console. and still no ingame footage. Sony has jumped the shark.

jumped the shark....nice reference purp...But I see this as good for 360...two years extra would kinda make Sony off kilter with the console cycle...so sure Sony could come out with a good system but a matter of 1 and a half to 2 years after MS "and" Nintendo would be ramping up the next gen over ps3. As for keeping current ps2 owners to NOT buy a next gen console....ummm perhaps "pay" them...lol I just can't see half of the current gaming community sitting on there hands cuz Sony told them too.

With the complexity of the PS3's architecture, it wouldn't surprise me any. I'll still take it with a grain of salt though.

Exactly. Game developers will make games that will be so stunning on the 360 that sony fanboys will just have to pull there hands from under thier @$$'s and buy a 360. It will be imposible to resist. I could be wrong but i dont think there is anyone who is that loyal to sony to wait 2 years. Ive never been loyal to sony though so i dont know what its like.

Well I'll be...

Hummm... Somehow this statement seems to be conceivable...WHY you ask?
Just think about it for 2 seconds: there is absolutely NO info whatsoever on the PS3 !!! Usually, I would believe Sony to give some tiny info progressively trough time about their new system (especially so close to the 360 launch), just to keep pro-sony guys' attention on the PS3 and avoid them even looking at the 360....But this is ABSOLUTELY NOT happening...

Heck I used to have PS1 and PS2, but absolutely NOTHING from what we've seen or heard for PS3 is mouthwatering (don't even get me started on the ever missing in-game sequences). No HARD facts..Even the specs of the beast are "subject to change"....Something's wrong in the Sony camp, and they're hiding it... Dunno if this speculation is the answer why, but something BIG is going bad for sure....

even if ps3 is delayed that does not automactically translate into great news, if there is no ps3 that means that M$ may not price cut as opposed to the speculated price cut that may occur when/if the ps3 releases in 06. That translates into less consoles sold. so dont be thinking thats always great news, sure M$ would have a huge lead, but who do you xcare more about? them or us??

Microsoft have already announced that there will be a price cut. It will go ahead, regardless of the PS3 being delayed or not.

indeed they need to address that if its true. Which wouldn't surprise me since every sony console at launch had overheating issues (I loved my PS1 but good lord the original reached nuclear heating lol) so yeah good for MS if they push it off but can also be said good for sony consumer because hopefully they can get a better product that wont melt their entertainment center.

i sure hope this is true so all sony fanboys could shut up until 2007 and who cares if it gives sony more time to make a better system.that just means more times for develop for the 360.so when the ps3 comes out do people really think the developer will run to just develope the ps3 and all its capabilities.nope they will still do their best on the system they been on the 360

Wow that is a long wait. This guy I know was planning on waiting for the PS3 but if it will take that long to come out he will probally end up buying a 360.

I heard the same kind of rumer from a Gamestop employee, of course what do they really know. He said that according to his "manager" PS3 was releasing in summer 06 in Japan and Fall 06 in the US. This was enough to make me invest in 360 just in case it is true and I'm a PS supporter. I will probably get a PS3 though upon release.

Well, if it is true, Sony is screwed. I'm not sure if it is good news for Msoft, but it is definitely bad news for Playstation loyalists. 2 Christmas' without a next-gen console, that'll piss them off. Sure, PS2 has some great games coming out, but not good enough to surpass the 360 next gen goodness. I hope for the sakes of the PS3 gamers this is not true- as I like a good fair fight.

And I beheld that Sony was cast off from the presence of the gamers, and the fall thereof was great.
