Default Nnitendo Revolution graphicly a, "Souped up Xbox"

When Revolution was initially unveiled, a Nintendo executive said it would be "two-to-three times more powerful than GameCube." The company never commented on Revolution's horsepower again and we were later told that the initial statement was incorrect. However, according to development houses, that description accurately sums up Revolution's power .

"To be honest, it's not much more powerful than an Xbox. It's like a souped up Xbox,"

a major third party source revealed to IGN. "But it's the controller that makes the difference and the controller is really nice. " Nintendo has said all along that sheer horsepower has not been a priority with Revolution. Rather, the company hopes to make the console small, quiet and affordable. It is very likely for this reason that the Big N chose not to make Revolution compatible with the emerging 720p, 1080i and 1080p high-definition video resolutions, which are focuses for competing consoles.

I can see where Nintendo is going; like the DS, innovation instead of power. We should all konw who is winning in the portable market.The DS has been out for longer so insted of putting overal sales, in which DS sweeps the floor with the PSP, I have put recent sales in all 2 of 3 large areas;

UK;
October 22-29:
NDS: 30,100
PSP: 12,900

Japan;
November 21-28:
Nintendo DS - 132,012
PSP - 51,196

US;
Someone else find them, I can't?

I suppose the DS is kind of the winning figure in the handheld market.........but i got a PSP so don't dis da PSP homie! Well, i suppose that it might be a good choice that Nintendo has went for Gameplay (Hopefully) over Graphics but it could turn out to be costley later on in it's lifespan.

Well I've got a DS and a PSP and I use the DS the most for gaming, but the PSP is my multimedia player. I suppose you could say that that is what Nintendo are trying to do; instead of going head to head, they are saying "Sony and Microsoft can do the fighting and everyone can buy ours aswell!

Sony; ("Winners") Microsoft; (losers)
Nintendo; (real winners) Nintendo; (Real winners)

OR

Sony; (losers) Microsoft ("winners")
Nintendo; (real winners) Nintendo; (real winners)

Atleast that's Nintendo's ideal Idea! It could fail...

Blank: Don't overdo smilieys.

Fredster, you whore those smiley's too much, its more irritating than a Yeast Infection.

On topic - I couldnt really care less if it was slightly superior graphically than the Xbox, as it has a truly next generation feature already. And it has Super Smash Brothers Online for a launch title, do we need any more convinving than that?

Wow, that analogy is... gross, korphearon. And all this time I thought you were a dude. And I see you're an avid gamer, but your older sig was mezmerizing.

Anyway, we all knew that Nintendo was not playing on the same field as MSoft and Sony, so this is expected with regards to console power. Truthfully, they couldn't play the same game, so they've made a new one which included an "innovative" controller design. If it works, then Nintendo will be around for a while.

From what i've seen of the 360 so far. It is graphically a "souped up Xbox". So i'm not particularly fussed. At the end of the day, what's down on paper and spouted from Executives doesn't particularly matter. For instance, just look at the original Xbox. Only now, at the end of its lifetime are developers truly unlocking its power. The same will occur with both the PS3 and the 360. Then there's the reps who shout absolutely ridiculous stuff like "the PS3 is 30 times more powerful than the PS2" or whatever. Yadda, yadda yadda. If you believe that, you believe anything.

What I do ponder though, is how exactly developers came up with this 'realization', considering the Broadway chip hasn't been completed yet. I'd say these are speculations. And nothing more, for the time being it's all a guessing game.

Uhm, isn't the Xbox 360 just a souped up Xbox? So far i've seen nothing to convince me that we're next-gen.

You're right, but Nintendo only have like 3 or 4 development studios (of their own) in-house. Meaning there'll only be amazing games every 6 months or whatever. Many of their franchises are getting handed down to outside developers, which can have a negative or positive affect depending on the studios level of dedication. What Nintendo needs is third party support. So far, it is doing well with the Revolution, but expect a ton of ****ty games on the system from people who are milking the new remote.
