im an Xbox fanboy to the end, but its on an Xbox site they will be a bit biased towards the 360 u think, and they've probably missed very good reasons why the PS3 will compete
both Sony and MS are coming out with utter crap and should not be listened to... |

Posts: 782 | both sony and microsoft have said their share of propaganda, if you dont believe this you are an ignorant a**, ms just happens to put less bs behind theirs, while sony hypes up and never delivers, dont think ms never tweaks the truth. i dont really care seeings how i am content with the product i bought from them, and sony lovers are still clueless as to what year their pos3 comes out |

Posts: 502 | its good information, but till we see a real console its all smoke and mirrors. Plus it means nothing when it comes to "who will win" I'm all about both systems so I really dont care. But keep in mind the xbox was far superior to the PS2. yet still got outsold in every market and by rather large margins. Its going to come down to the games in the end, just as it always does. So squabbling over the tech specs is rather meaningless. I mean c'mon computers are always technically superior but they have the smaller number of players because besides being expensive to keep up with they just dont have the games. And believe it or not gamers want games. And only the hardcore gamers like us even slightly pay attention to hardware performance. When a younger gamer goes to the store he says "ooooo look at that game I want that!" and so he'll end up getting whatever system its on. That is the bottom line and thats how you "win"
and yeah seriously quit double posting there is an edit button for a reason. And like the man said he didn't need to read it as we already read all this like 4 months ago. So check the attitude
In the meantime while fanboys on both sides continue to argue I'm busy playing my 360 lol

On topic- this is relatively old news from a biased source. Have you checked out Anandtech or Arstechnica yet? They have good reports on the system architecture and how well they will perform. Or, you could just research a few threads here as well. At any rate, as it has already been stated, its about the games overall. Dreamcast, Gamecube and Xbox were all superior to the PS2, and who wound up winning the console war? Thus we see just how important processing power really is. |

Posts: 17 | I mean, there MUST be a reason why sony isn't showing gameplay.
If their system was truly better (or 'truly nextgen' lol), they would have shown in-game footage to counter the 360's launch.
When sony says that the ps3 games arn't yet up to scratch, then how can they (sony) say that they have a more powerful system when they have yet to prove it (with their own games).
What Sony didn't want to do is show some gameplay prior to the 360 launch which would lead to an increase in xbox 360 sales...

Posts: 236 | Sony doesn't have to show in game footage - the CGI's they showed at E3 was enough to wet their fans appetites! If you've ever taken a marketing or sales class the first rule of thumb is don't offer the buyer to much information. Typically buyers will draw their own conclusions, which usually works out for, well in this case Sony.
Same reason why MS hasn't shown any footage or screens of Halo3 or why Nintedo hasn't released all the details of the revolution. The industry is crazy - it's like one big chess game! |

Posts: 299 | I pose a question to you guys: Who really cares?
I mean, you act like the 360 is a powerhouse of a machine. From what i've seen, it isn't. If you don't have a high-definition TV, the visuals could be considered as lacklustre (for a next-gen system). Now before you brand me a fanboy. I've this to tell you: This is only the beginning of the next-generation. I expected as much, and I expect similar results from the PS3. At the end of the day, the Xbox's true potential has only been unlocked in the last year or so. The same will apply for the 360.
People on forum boards are continually getting into sparring matches over irrelevant numbers. Of course I care about how a game looks. But at the end of the day, you're forgetting the very purpose of gaming: Gameplay. Visuals should always be given a lower priority. Yet these threads continue to pop up frequently. Be happy with what you have, and stop creating "wars" between companies. It's prehistoric. |

Posts: 1,875 | Prehistoric? I think not, but old, very much so. And obviously people still care, because these companies create "wars" and we become voluntary troops to fight for the cause, regardless of whether we are right or wrong (you could parallel it to the Crusaders or any other war for that matter). The end result is futile as gaming does not appear to be going away anytime soon. Since many of us are guided by a budget, we have to choose a system and hope that we made the right choice. Once we convince ourselves of having made the "right" choice, we defend it.
At any rate, as I already so aptly stated in my first post- its about the games. I like more games on the Xbox than any other (I also like the controller design and it feels better), ergo, I am more inclined to align myself with that console. But, thankfully, in my infinite ailing wisdom, I tend to be less fanboy-ish than the next single console owning individual (plus, I know my roots in gaming do not begin with Msoft).
Bionic pointed out that gameplay is very important, and should take precendence over visuals. I happen to agree. I remember the game "Out of this World" being not very stunning visually, but the physics were very appealing, the most life-like of that generation of games (IMO), which made the game play that much more interesting. I still like my games to look good (as beautfiul people tend to surround themselves with beautiful things), but if the gameplay sucks, not amount of gloss will help it. Once again, this brings us back to the topic of: it's about the games! |
