Sony to Cut Price of PlayStation 3 By Associated Press 31 minutes ago TOKYO - Sony Corp. will lower the price of its much-anticipated PlayStation 3 video game console, Kyodo News agency reported Friday, as competition heats up in next-generation gaming between Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo. Sony will cut the price to 49,980 yen ($430), from an originally planned 62,790 yen ($536), Kyodo said citing Sony executive Ken Kutaragi. NEWS - TECHNOLOGY - Comcast.net  I think this is great news, and a very strategic move by Sony (which i think they planed from the beginning). With the console war heating up, we can expect some explosive debates between the 2 while wii just slips under the radar, or so it would seem. Its only gonna get bigger, better, and louder as the 2 fight it out and that means only good things for all of us (price cuts, great games, innovative add ons, etc) so lets all sit back and enjoy! PS - Remember when you sleep at night, It was I, Enola Bomber, that allowed those sweet dreams your gonna have to come true, lol, kidding, but it is great news!

Posts: 470   | Um, you guys do realize they dropped the Japanese price. In no way does this indicate that the USD price will lower. Sony products are always cheaper in Japan.

Posts: n/a | great great marketing by sony, 1. make it a higher cost then people expected, with everyone going mad over it and getting lots of press for there price plan. 2. before launch just reduce price back to original price people thought it would be(and sony always planned on) and walla! you got massive press coverage and interest, and now instead of it being THE price everyone thought & wanted it to be, its a new shiney cheaper price!..brilliant by sony. |
