Another blow for the PS3

I heard today from an avid ps3 fan that the latest Gran Turismo game has been put back from March to August 2008. Do you guys think the super console will manage to out sell the 360 next year without it's main game for at least a year?

Well GT5:Prologue wasn't comign out in Europe/NA until February anyway...no surprise there.

Killzone 2 and LittleBigPlanet have also been pushed back (according to Threespeech) to late 2008...so yeah, not much fun is a-happenin' in that camp.

MGS is the main game. As great as GT is, it appeals only to certain gamers.

Outsell MGS and God of War, etc? It won't even outsell GTA4. I'll have whatever you're smoking

Looking at previous generations of Sony consoles, hell yeah GT5 will outsell most of them:

PS1:

Gran Turismo: highest seller
Gran Turismo 2: 3rd Highest

PS2:

Gran Turismo 3: A-spec: 2nd highest
Gran Turismo 4: 5th highest

Gran Turismo is a big deal

I agree with those figures, i've had a ps1 and ps2 with all 4 GT's and i'd imagine it's the same story with others gamers.

In terms of actual sales numbers...it's fairly steady:

GT1: 10.85 million
GT2: 9.37 million
GT3: 14.87 million
GT4: 9.52 million

GT is a big deal in Europe and Japan...and since that's where most of the PS3 userbase is, expect alot of sales.

I'm so glad I didn't get a PS3 for crimbo, I want MGS and FF and GTA4 is going be better on it due to HDD caching but **** it, there is just a lack of ****ing games. And everyone knows here Im a moany micheal about the 360, yet even I cant see PS3 catching close to the 360 this console war.

If I was offered a PS3 or Wii tomorrow, Id pick the Wii.

heh this sure is a blow for the ps3. The thing holding them back is their lack of freakin games and now with their biggest exclusive title it just puts more ppl on hold buying one and more ppl buying 360s.

They're are so screwed. PS3 has barely any game out now and now with their main game put back,........they're gonna be some unhappy PS3 fans hahahha.

Im NOT a fanboy, I was always PS but the 360 came out first and as a gamer I wasnt not gonna get the next gen system that was made available. So I got a 360 at launch like any avid non fanboy would do.

I planned on a PS3 for sure, but to be honest, if GT5 is pushed back, and little big planet, Im not gonna bother getting the PS3 until they are out. Im very disapointed in the PS3 right now. I still plan on getting one but I just havent been compelled to pull the trigger on it yet. Ive been very satisfied with my 360's.

Sure the PS3 doesn't have games, NOW, but it will at some point. And let's not forget the Wii doesn't have much either. To be frank, the Wii isn't all that great. My roommate has one and it's only fun for a short while. Of course if you're drunk that's another story (Drunken Wii Sports FTW!!)

Its true that the great games will come in the future, nobody is denying that, but I know they wont get my money until they do, if they want my money I need to be motivated somehow. Im a member of a PS3 forum, Im in touch with the PS3 camp, and Im still not motivated to buy one yet.

Hell, think about those peeps that payed full price only to see the price drop before the biggest hitting games even get here. Ill just wait till later thanks.

Ok, dumb question here: when you say the ps3 has no games, how do you figure? not trying to be a smartass, i just want to know the thinking. Are you guys talking exclusive titles? Maybe the ps3 is taking longer to receive those titles?
Because when i wander around the game aisle at the store, pretty sure i am seeing a lot of the same games on the ps3 that the 360 has. There are a couple missing (and not just exclusive 360 games, like halo or mass effect), but the majority of big titles seem to be coming out on both consoles (just like they did on the last gen machines).

i'd still would like to get a ps3 for a blu ray player if nothing else.

The problem with the PS3s software is the fact that, yes it has many of the same titles the 360 does (minus the exclusives we have), but an unprecedented amount of them are ****ty versions. The PS3 is a tough console to develop for, so when developers go multi-platform, the PS3 gets the short end of the stick. PS3 owners get rushed games. They get ports rather than true, quality games. The games have lag, lack of content, whatever.

However, it will not always be this way. It is slowly changing. Unreal Tournament III is supposed to be very good and no port by any means. It's probably the first time a game came out for the PS3 first rather than the 360 and actually run great too. The fact you can transfer PC mods onto the PS3 version is a big plus too (modding is huge for the Unreal world).

2008 is the year for Sony to TRY and come back into the game. If MGS4, GT5, LittleBigPlanet, Killzone 2 and all the others can't do it, I don't know what will. Sony has some great titles coming out, it's just taking a ****ing eternity for it to happen.

I personally will get a PS3 sooner or later, because I'm a gamer first. Although I have a sneaking suspicion that my parents picked me up one for Christmas. If so, then hey... I'm not gonna say "take it back" or some ****. The more the merrier I say.

Well it's liek this my friend. think of a gaming console as being like a fast food chain...... the console is the building and the games are the food they sell...

Restaurant A/Microsoft comes out with fresh new food Weekly and has many items unique to their establishment, they have a menu of Hundreds of Great Dishes as well as lead the pack with new releases which 99% of the time happen as scheduled.

Restaurant B/Sony serves a limited variety and only comes out with new dishes every several weeks to a month, and what they serve is really only highly appealing to a limited audience.

Some people may remain loyal to Restaurant B because hey have always eaten there and humans are by nature creatures of habit but of course if you have enough undercooked appetizer and your main courses arrive underseasoned you will decide to eat at Microsoft instead where you have a vast menu of good food and know for a fact that you will have new stuff served weekly.

Thats exactly why I'm going to go and get an elite boxing week. Lack of great quality games for my ps3. I will say the ps3 is by far a much better machine though, but that don't mean much if there are no good games. Now I'm going to put this ugly bread box beside the ps3 and hope to hell it Don't get the dreaded rrod. At least I'll be able to play great games though !
