Default PS3 Media Streaming

ok here's the deal, every time i search for video files on my computer from my ps3 it lets me navigate through all of my folders which i've allowed through the WMP11 sharing feature. but when i do that a notification pops up on my laptop saying "rundll32 has stopped working" and then no videos will play on my PS3. ever video title has a * next to them (i assume this shows that they are unplayable)

any solutions?

i found the ps3 streaming was pretty piss poor on my buddies machine, and once it did get working it wouldnt play half of the divx he had. Makes sense though that the MS console would integrate and work better with windows and wmp.

I think he had to download some third party software called tversity to get it working in the end so that might be worth a go, was a pain in the butt though. My suggestion is to use your 360, u still have that right. Plays everything flawlessly

I use both machines for streaming because I find that some videos stop playin half way thru on the 360 and vice versa. I just use whatever one plays it properly. I tend to try the PS3 first however, as it's far quieter.

of course i still have it, what the hell do you think i am?! lol

360 FTW!

but yeah, i still have it but the streaming hasn't worked since that divx update so i can't use that either. any solution to either problem i'd take, but i'd rather it was for the ps3 because like charles said, it's much quieter

I'd have to agree although while watching movies via streaming I can't hear the 360. Also, even though it may be slightly louder, the Elite streams **** quietly as well.

have never heard my 360 while playing a game or watching a movie, but i have the sound turned on. Also weird that you both are saying movies freeze half way etc.. have thrown so many different coded movies at my 360 and it plays everything great. Different tweeking i guess

Yeah my Elite is significantly quieter than my orignal core and premium.

You're suppose to have the sound turned on? ****, and to think I was doing it wrong the entire time.
