Default PS3 Internet (not online gaming)

I was browsing the web when I came upon the PS3 press conference of E3. They promised that you would be able to browse the internet on the PS3. Could Sony pull it off? I doubt it. Vote in the poll too.

they could...but look at the success of the network adapter on ps2...sony's online for ps2 was horrible, the need to improve on it, otherwise no one will care....also they cant do it for free, they will lose so much money, for maintaining it and running it

Have to have a wait and see approach to see if they follow through with the browser idea, but would not hold my breath like most people say sony tends not to deliver on things they say.

Yeah, I wouldn't get a PS3 if I had anything online in mind.

Sony's idea for internet gaming is basically giving it to the consumer for "free" while forcing the developers to host their own servers.

They're calling it "better" because it's "letting" the developers have "direct contact" with the players. All it really means is they can't afford the infrastructure and lack the resource for reliable services so they dump the burden on game developers to host their own online gaming servers.

How many times is Sony making the developer pay for their own games. I mean it... Really... Has anyone kept track of this yet? I might start to.

As for internet browsing for the PS3... I've said it before and I'll say it again:

GAMING CONSOLES ARE FOR GAMING, NOT FOR DOING YOUR HOMEWORK AND DOWNLOADING PORN.

Thanks.

Jeez, tell us how you really feel.

What's the point of being able to surf the web on your PS3? Everyone already has a computer, and without a Hard Drive using the web isn't nearly as useful.

yeah, i dont think people are going to care, plus it will just make the system more expensive, and it's basically useless in today's world

I also think that the browser could also get spyware, spam and viruses eventually. There will always be someone that will make a harmful program for a web browser of any kind.

It could happen but I left Sony awhile ago. It would be really cool but I don't really care to much.
