Default Anyone who plays the COD4 ntsc version on a PAL system? I need a little assistance...

Hi Guys!
I'm currently on vacation in the states and since games are so cheap over here, compared to the PAL versions and taken the current Dollar/Euro rate, I would really like to bring home a couple of games - especially Call of Duty 4.

My question, however, is have any of you guys have played the NTSC-U version of CoD4 on a PAL system? I've read on Play-Asia that it is be region free, so I guess it should work, but on the other hand there is a statement on the back of the game saying that it should only be sold and used in The United States of America.
Hence I am confused.
Assuming that the game works, which I tend to believe it will, I have another concern about how the multiplayer part of the game will behave - I mean will I have to play on the american servers and suffer from a possibly bad ping, as well as not be able to play with my friends who have the PAL version of the game.

I hope you can help me with your own experiences or perhaps lead me to a forum/thread where this has been answered (I, myself, haven't been able to find a post, regarding the specific multiplayer question I have, when using the search tool)

Thanks a lot
