Best Buy 2 Year Warranties - Help

I bought my 360 at Best Buy back about 6 months ago and just got the Ring Of Death. When I bought it, I also purchased the 2 year warranty Best Buy has. Question I have is, can I just go in to Best Buy today and get it returned for a new one? And if so, do I have to give them everything (ie cables, controller, HDD)? If anyone has gone through this process with Best Buy please post. Thank you.

You're better off checking with Best Buy on that one. I bought the one year warranty from EB Games. Before the warranty expired, I took mine in to get one with a quieter DVD drive. I talked to them in advance, and we worked it out to where I only needed to bring in the 360, and I left the hard drive, etc at home. I'm not sure if Best Buy is that easy to work with.

If EB gave you a new system doesnt that miss with the live account or gamertag? Or is all that information stored solely on the HDD?

The gamertag can be recovered with or without the hard drive. All of that information is stored by MS as well.

So switching out my core 360 but keeping the original HDD wont mess up my live account?

this might be a stupid question, but, can i keep coming back and returning the 360 everytime it breaks up until the 2year warranty ends or does it stop after the first time it breaks and they give me a new one?

I'm sure once you use the Best Buy warranty once, you're done.

called best buy and said its only for a one time exchange. Screw that. In that case, since my 360 is still under Microsoft's warranty. I will have them do it for me. Calling microsoft now to find out where my prepaid box is. lol.

This way after the warranty is up with Microsoft and it breaks, i can use Best Buy's warranty.

Are you sure Best Buy won't check serial numbers?

Edit: Also realize that although your Best Buy warranty will no longer be valid (they will let you purchase another on the new machine), you'll get a new one year warranty from MS on the new machine. I declined the EB Games warranty on my second console.
