Default moneywise

Ok so I have been saving up a lot of money over the years and I have stepped into a dilemna. Should I buy a HD TV or Xbox 360 with my own money and wait for the other one for christmas with the money i get there? I lend my fate to my fellow forum members. MAKE HASTE!

I've heard from HD owners/viewers it's hard for them to go back. Personally I would buy an HD first then the Xbox 360. I mean you could buy the HD right now couldn't you? So you would get more use out of it, time wise.

I'm picking up my new HDTV next week - the 26" version of the Samsung that Microsoft are likely to use in their demo pods. No, it's not too small - I only sit about 4 feet from the screen!

Get A 30" otherwise you will be wasting your cash. The resoloution on a 26" is good but the screen size Is'nt large enough to fully enjoy HDTV read up on Google!

Consider what HDTV means - you can sit closer to the screen without loss of quality.

At 26", the height of the screen is around 12.75". The optimal viewing distance for a HD screen is around 3 - 4 times the screen height. Therefore, this means that I should be sat around 3 - 4 feet away to get the optimal peripheral vision and line definition for a 26" diagonal.

You asked me to read up on Google. Maybe I should ask you to re-read my post and see how close I sit. Maybe you should also read up on Google? The size of a TV you buy should be largely based on how close you are going to sit to it. Why would I want a huge 42" just a few feet away from me? Likewise, 23" is just that bit too small. Screen size is only relative to the environment you are in.

Default dont have money 4 both

i think i will get 360 first since i dont have money for both and want the 360 as soon as possible. both are for my room. so 26-32 inches is nice. I saw an insignia 26 inch wide screen hdtv for 400$! let me no about cheap 26-32 inch tvs, under like 600 i suppose.

Sony KV-27HS420 27" FD Trinitron WEGA Hi-Scan 1080i HD-Ready TV, when you add it to your cart (only way to see the price) it comes out to $540. Personally if the HD-TV isn't over 40"'s it's not worth it. I'm probally going to buy an LCD I can mount up in my room, a simple 20"ish one.

Complete garbage. Maybe you need greather than 40" because of how far you sit from the TV, but we don't all sit the same distance as you.

HDTV requires that you sit 3 - 4 screen heights away from it. If that's what your room allows, then fine. However, in my gaming den, I sit about 3 - 4 feet away, which means 26" is pretty much the most I can get away with without it being too large.

People think size is everything when it comes to TVs. Actually, it is, but larger does not mean better.

I'm in the same situation as you Nomino. My gaming room is more like a cupboard and I only sit a few feet away from the TV. So I don't really need anything bigger than 26" to do the job. Plus the smaller TV's are quite a bit cheaper, around £500 in the U.K. compared to £900+ for anything above 32", so makes it a bit more acceptable when I suggest it to the wife

Amen to that my friend! Now I just need to find a way to convince her that I then need an XBox 360 to actually play on the TV! Woah, what's that?!! (big thumb comes pressing down!)
