Posts: 807 | What got you into Gaming? When did you start? Tell your story here. I'm 29 and I had an uncle that was an avid gamer so basically from the age of 9 I had access to his consoles and PC games. I started out in the 80s on an Atari and "intelivision?" I remember games like Frogger, Burgertime, and Dreadnaught Factor. Then I transitioned into PC games like Zork and later on Wolfentstien. I would mow half a dozen lawns each week all summer at $5 each and use the money to buy PC games so I basically played a little bit of everything in the Late 80s through the 90s. I remember Rygar, Tetris, and Zelda on the Nes. I never had a Sega genesis so that whole experience was lost to me but at the time I was HEAVY into PC gaming so it wasn't a real loss. I got heavily addicted to RPGs and Combat Flight Sims,, I played pretty much EVERY RPG available on PC in the 90s. and the vast majority of Flight games. The notable one I remember are Xwing, Tie Fighter, Strike Commander, Privateer, Wing Commander 2 through 5, Aces of the Pacific, Aces over Europe, and Apache. With Doom I became really attracted to shooters so the Quake Series brought me many hours of joy. AND THEN in the mid 90s I discovered Internet gaming with Quake online, StarCraft, and Diablo. Needless to say at the age of 20 I was Pulling down 20 hour long Quake/Starcraft gaming sessions. I even managed a top 20 worldwide ranking on Starcraft for 1 month at my height. Sadly real life kicked in and I got a job. i ended up moving from Pennsylvania to Oregon in 1999 and not having access to any gaming at all. I got myself a PS1 sometime in 2002 and dove right on in to enjoy every game it had available with the exception of sports titles. A couple years later Microsoft Came out with the Xbox and I was so impressed with what I was seeing about Halo on the Internet that I decided an Xbox was worth owning just for Halo alone and any other game would be a bonus, I was right. i did the whole xbox thing with a few steps back to playstation now and again, the PS2 did not impress me so i stuck to my xbox and was delighted to find morrowind which i knew would be good thank to my nearly decade old memories of Elderscrolls2 Daggerfall.. I sold my Xbox about 8 months after the 360 launched and bought my 360 10 months after launch.
My initial 360 lasted 11 days and fried itself unable to read any discs. it was replaced at the store without a hassle. my 2nd 360 lasted 7 flawless month and started havign severe heat spikes with 2 red lights so it's currenty at the repair center... I mailed it off over a week ago and i'm DYING. I need my Gears, Lost Planet, and Wormz!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Posts: 577 | I started gaming at the ripe old age of two. Just check the picture I have holding a colecovision controller playing donkey kong. In that picture my mom says I was just over a year and a half. Ignore the date in the corner, my camera decided to reset itself. I have about 10 pictures of me playing the classics such as donkey kong and ladybug, and smurfs! I am 25 years old so I can officially say I've been playing video games longer than some of the people here have been alive.I have owned every system except for a gameboy, well pretty much every gameboy except the DS. I am bidding on a dreamcast because mine has just recently "retired" if you will. I currently own all the "next gen" platforms, with I dont know which one on top. I have to send my 360 in because its grinding and screaming, and just likes to stop doing what its doing on a regular basis. I am not a "pro", I definately dont like achievements, and I wish gaming would go back to it's roots, but what can we do? I'll just throw in a list of what I'm playing. 360 - Rainbow 6 online, Ps3 - nba street (suprisingly awesome), Wii - super paper mario, DS - harvest moon, PSP - killzone and call of duty, and on the pc I'll pop in every now and then on LORTO. Thats my gaming life in a nutshell.

Posts: 2,347 | I was six and I wanted a N64, so I said "Mommy, Daddy, can I get a Nintendo 64 pleeeeeeeeeeeease? I'll be really nice." So they got me one. i was happy.
And that is the fine story of how I got into gaming.
PS: My first game was Cruisin World: Exotica, and then Banjo Toowie <<(What a great game) lol.

Posts: 3,229 | I first played a console game in 1998, and it was Gran Turismo on my friends PS1 (you think that lead to me worshipping racers? ) and I was hooked. In late 2001 I got a PS2, with F1 2001 and Unreal Tournament (two Godly games!) and played the hell out of them as it was my first console. Unreal Tournament split-screen 2 player with bots was amazing fun.
In 2003, I bought a Xbox on boxing day because I really needed to play PGR2. I bought the "Special Edition" pack which came with Midtown Madness 3 and Halo. I didn't play Halo on the first day because I never heard anything about it. But when I did play it.....Oh....Em....Gee!!!!! So me and a few of my friends would play Co-op on Legendary for hours on end, just playing it over, and over and over...
So after 18 months of Halo 2 gaming, and Forza rapage, I bought a Xbox 360 on EU launch. Played that with some great games, but also some crappers...and in March of this year, I bought myself a shiny PS3 for a Blu-ray player (just got Casino Royale...that is one of the best films I've ever seen, and looks gorgeous) and also for an extra bit of gaming.
So my consoles to date:
PS1 (bought it for £10 lol)
PS2
PSP (bought it for one month...bad decision)
Xbox
Xbox 360
PS3
I'm a newbie to the gaming scene, but I can still own anyone on a racing game, and most FPS's |

the first game i played though was the first ever short circuit game.
it was on the console with a keyboard. i was too young to even KNOW what i was playing. me dad and i held out with that until the mega drive came along, i've pretty much owned everything since then. n64 and 360 are the two consoles that have made the biggest impact on my social life to date.
had a ps3, took it back because i felt it couldnt compare to the 360.

Posts: 185 | I started playing as a child with these consoles in the order in which I got them.
Atari 2600
Atari 7800
Nintendo
Sega GameGear
SNES
3DO
N64
Gamecube
Gameboy Advanced
Xbox
Nintendo DS
Xbox360
Genesis - picked this up for $2.50 a few months ago.
Anyways I am a big fan of The Lengend of Zelda, Halo, and most Tom Clancy games. Like most gamers in the 80s I can remember the first time I beat Super Mario Brothers. Another Game I liked in the early 90s was BattleToads, whatever happened to them? |

Posts: 272 | Will lets just say I started with pac-man on an arcade machine at a restuarant and after that I loved video-games. So after that I went to the Nintendo 64 and played Mario-Kart which was awesome. Then I kept playing and buying games and went to the PS to the PS2 to the X-Box and then to the 360. Also somewhere in there I got all the game boys and stuff. And by the way I started at like age 3 on video-games and I'm 13 now and I love them and I always will

Posts: 2,267 | well of course I had the PONG game machine, my old man bought it when it first came out. But the first games machine I actually had was a Commodore C-64. I used to play bubble bobble and rainbow island on that. Then got the first master system and shortly after got the Mega Drive. Sonic, what a legend. Never EVER got into mario because I thought the games were crap. Had loads since then but the first console I bought with my OWN money was probably the Playstation 1. These days I own a 360 and a PS3.
