Angry Problem with widescreen on games...

Ok so heres the issue. Most of my old games such as PGR3, Bioshock, Gears Of War, Rainbow Six: Vegas are all widescreen, and there;s no way to change it. Those games were all fullscreen before, but I'm suspecting some update must have messed it up. But I'm not sure. Now all of my newer games, such as Orange Box and Halo 3 are all fullscreen. What can I do to make the other games fullscreen? Can I uninstall the updates? But then if I install the updates again, all my game would become widescreen, wouldn't they? I have a monitor and I'm really annoyed because of this, it just doesnt make sense.

you can just change the resolution and widscreen(16:9,16:10)/standard(4:3,5:4) options in your display settings on dashboard.

It's not that, my dashboard and everything is fine. Just my old games are widescreen, I tried changing them and they're still widescreen even though it says fullscreen on the display settings.

EDIT: I just put in my GOW disc and tried changing the reference levels, and it didnt change anything, so...my hunch is that some update must have messed it up.

Oh I get ya, I think thats just the problem of having a 4:3 moniter with widescreen games, youll have to put up with black bars. Also the reference levels only change the contrast/brightness levels I think.

Ok, I guess I'll just have to live with that. Just kind of odd that my new games are fullscreen and my old ones aren't...

I have the same problem. When I bought crackdown it was fullsceen and the one day i put it in and it was widescreen. I tried changing all my settings and nothing happened. then I put in GOW and it was fine. so are all of my other games that Ive tried. I haven't tried older games so i don't know if the older games do it more.

Your games are telling you to get with the times and get a widescreen TV.
