It'll be years before i even consider a new tv let alone an OLED. Especially at that price.

LED's started out just for small, and now they are putting out 50+, 60+ inch LED. this OLED might follow the same path.

however, TVs with frickin' lasers in it would be sweet.

You mean LCD, right?

The human eye has a comparative resolution of 675 megapixels (across a ~180 degree range of vision) so there's a long way to before the human eye can't tell the difference.

Let me clear something up:

1080i is not obsolete. Currently, no HDTV broadcasts are in a resolution above 1080i and most games are 720p but can display in 1080i. You are not missing out on anything but Blu-rays/HD DVDs and even then, they are still really good pictures.
